Root Mount root system to PC?

I'm brand-new to Android, but have spent some time around Linux. I've been searching online for awhile now, and I can't find a way to mount the 'droid file system (not the SD card file system) to my linux desktop computer.

My goal is to be able to do some minimal amount of file copying/moving/deleting while using the file-manager and full-sized keyboard of my desktop system.

I have a feeling that it's not possible--but being new at this I could be wrong about that... Or, that I have to use adb commands from my desktop system?

How close am I here?

Since you have successfully achieved your goal. Can you please edit your Original Post and make it a tutoral for others asking the same questions. I can help if you need help writing or explaining it.

Ps I was going to help you but I saw you got it. Please give back to this community with a tutoral...

I'm willing to attempt that, but I haven't completely succeeded. I found QtADB--which is exactly what I was looking for--but I haven't gotten it to work yet:

If I do, I'll certainly consider updating my original post! :)
