Root Mount USB mass storage

4 is the best. Have a look through all teh menus on 4EXT. The option is there

Ok in the menu i have:
Install from sd card
toggle usb storage >Disconnect
Wipe|format
backup|restore
mounts|storage > unmount/cache
> unmount /data
> mount/ sd card
> mount / system
tools
info
power menu

Im preparing the gparted section:

"15) Plug your phone in. You should get get a prompt that tells you how to add the device."

What mode should the phone be in? I tried charge only with USB debugging on and it shows up as something along the lines of "High USB Composite device", as opposed to "High android phone" as in the screenshots. Is that ok?

Ok so im on Gparted with my phone plugged in. In the top right corner in the drop down menu it only says /dev/sda (512.00 MiB) Im guessing this isnt right?

Are you running Gparted through VMware? That look's like the VMware space on your HDD so no it isn't right - don't try and format that. If your phone's being recognised you should see an option below that matches the size of your sd card.

Did the mount sd through recovery work - ie could you see contents in Windows explorer (assuming your running windows)? If yes it's probably the VM set-up that hasn't been successful - are you following SU's guide? If the mount via recovery's ok, I'd uninstall VMware and try again. No doubt one of the pros will be along to provide more informed advice anyway though.

Best bet is to mount SDcard in recovery but NOT connect USB. Wait for when the langauge / keyboard settings are on screen for gparted.... Then plug in USB.

Im still struggling to mount SD card in recovery.

From the recovery menu:

mounts| storage > mount/ sdcard
then its mounted?

i plug it in to my computer, it makes the USB noise but i cant access any of the files?
