Root mounting external keyboard, mouse, flash drive?

I have read in a few places that you can mount external hardware to your phone with a usb host cable. (not this phone specifically) so i bought a usb host cable and tried mounting a usb wireless keyboard to my phone but no luck :(. i then tried connecting it via the host cable then rebooting while it was still connected to see if it would work that way...still no luck.

has anyone had any luck with this? I am a college student and i just had to sell my tablet because of hard times lol. it would make my life soooo much easier if i could mount an external keyboard to my phone for taking class notes and what not.

Not a bad idea lol...but it still didn't curb my curiosity about mounting and external keyboard lol

my tablet (epad - china nockoff of ipad that runs android and winCE) has a full usb port and i can hook a keyboard and mouse into it and use it. there may be a file somewhere for it or a driver of some sort...

I'm not sure...all the info I've read about mounting them said to just plug it in using a USB host cable lol

Just read somewhere that your kernel has to support USB hosting lol. I have noooo idea how to modify a kernel to support USB hosting so this is where my search ends lol. Any devs know anything about this??
