Root Moving apps to sd card. Why and how??

I have a rooted Droid X. (Apex 2.0 RC4) The phone's internal memory is filling up. I just bought a class 4 Sandisk 32GB card and it should arrive in a day or so. Is there any sort of cookbook primer on which apps to move to the SD card and which will run better on the phone's internal memory? Will I notice any change in the phone's performance after moving apps to SD?
Also, I could use a "step-by-step" on backing up prior to to the move. I have Link2SD installed on my phone. Thanks for helping out.

Download from Android Market the application called "App2SD".. it should work, i don't know another solution

Moving apps to sd is asking for trouble. Any app on the sdcard will not work (and may crash your phone) when it's plugged into your computer.

If you REALLY have to do this, I'd only move a couple of the biggest ones.

Other options would be to install an app that cleans up junk and temp files.

I read yesterday where someone had their sdcard fill up and turns out they had deleted a bunch of movies while connected to their computer and they had to empty the trash on it to free up the space. :D
