Help Moving apps to the SD card???

Hello all,

Was wondering if there was a easy to way to move apps from the internal memory to the SD card? Recently I got a message saying my internal memory was full and i could not update a few apps. So i had to go and remove some apps from my phone to free up space so i can update the ones i wanted to.

I noticed that i have crap tons of space on my SD card, but everyting seems to be installed on the internal memory, and wanted to figure out a way to move a lot of that stuff to my SD card safely.

any suggestions on how i can do this without making a app unstable?

Thanks

That is going to depend. Are you rooted? Do you use a custom rom? Over at sdx I was succesful at apps2sd following these steps:
Start from a Fresh DJ07 (personal preference when Sprint gives an update.)
Apply 3.1.1 Recovery via SWUpdate
Apply Inxane 0.5.5 kernal via zip file
Apply Sotck DJ07 Theme Template via zip file
Applied Reboot,Recovery 5% mod via zip file(not necessary but great option)
Applied universal apps2sd via zip.

That got me apps2sd working great!

There isn't an option for you then at this time. Sorry. If it helps I am very happy with my set up currently and I use the apps I want and don't have to worry about changes or apps I don't want. I remove the apps I don't want from stock with root explorer and add what I use. I have 1gb on my 16gb sd card towards apps use and the rest is music movies pictures and data. Still have about 6.5 gbs free. It runs fairly well and I don't have to worry about space. I get about 12-16 hours of moderate usage in fair signal areas all day. It might be worth a shot to try going a custom route.

My SD card has lots of free space because i had bought a larger one when i 1st got the phone. Up until recently i have never had to worry about running out of space, and was able to download as many apps as i wanted...but apprently you can run out of internal memory lol...so i went through and deleted a few apps that i rarely use and that freed up some space, but i know i will run into this problem again in the future once i update the apps i use to many times.

Over all my phone runs perfect, and has since day one so i never really felt the need to try a custom rom....(try to go by the if it ain't broke then don't fix it..lol)...but maybe i should...not exactly sure how to go to a custom rom

I honestly really can't say I use a custom ROM per say cause I am like you. If it ain't broke dont fix it. I did want a few features though that weren't stock such as wireless tether and apps2sd. THe steps I gave above are really simple and could help. The bad side is where your starting from may cause you to lose data in setting it up from the get go. You could just do the recovery which won't affect your data and then a kernal and apps2sd. If you want help just post up. I can shoot you links to the files you need and the order to apply if you have the software update already applied.

Thanks for all the help you have offerd, but i don't think its worth it to take any chances with changing anything around on this phone at this time. It works perfect (well almost perfect) right now, and it won't be all that much longer i will probably be going to the Samsung Epic.....(not sure why i am dumb enough to go with Samsung again I have had bad luck with lots of there stuff not just the phones). I bought the Epic for my mother and have played around with it a bit and love the phone just waiting for my full upgrade discount via Sprint. Thinking @ getting the Epic for my wife for Xmas she is way over due for a new phone (currently using the JTC Snap)..but she don't want to spend any real money on a phone for her so i have to suprise her.

Yeah I was holding out til Isee a leaked roadmap just cause may isnt far off and i hear htc and samsung have a couple nice upgraded phones coming. i am gonna get a galaxy tab in feb to hold my gadget addiction at bay

yea if you want to fully copy your phone to your SD it needs to be rooted

BUT you can download the MyBackupPro app and it will copy all of your apps and contacts over to your SD. The contacts aren't really a major thing because when you sync the phone to google all of your contatcs are backed up but the ability to save my apps to the SD is a lifesaver for me.

Ever since I got the eclair.dj07 update a few weeks ago my phone has been working amazing. Totally turned my opinion around about the phone. But BEFORE this update, I dont know about you other Moment users, but mine had to be data reset about once every 3 weeks. The problems were unreal, you can search the Moment forums and see what Im talking about. Being able to reset the phone and have the ability to reinstall all of my apps at the touch of a button saved me from going psychotic.

Try MyBackupPro if you dont want to root your phone. Its $4.99 but if your a savy android user I'm sure you can find the download link somwhere

Wow! I would really like to move my apps to my SD card so I could free up my phone's system resources.

I've installed 2.1 DE03 and then went to Joey's Kitchen for Vampirefo-SDX-2.0.7 (root and support for tether).

I wonder if this would work for me. Has anyone noticed an improvement in performance by doing this?

hey i want to move my app's to my sd card do mybackuppro dose that

I don't believe it lets you run apps2sd persay. It simply backs up everything on your phone. I don't use it though so a user may need to tell you if it also does apps2sd. If it doesn't it was simply misunderstood what you were asking.

hey i was reading ur post and it sounds like u no ur stuff, so i was wondering maybe u can help me. i have a samsung moment and wanting to know if there a 2.2 rom or higher for it, if so what do u recommend and were can i get it from.....

There is work being done on a CynagonMod 6.1 which is based on Android 2.2. It is in alpha stages right now. Had the intercept source been a better show of 2.2 on our chipset it would have possibly been done by now. SDX is hard at work trying to get this going. Littlejith was a great help anjd hopes to have something for us after the holidays!

If you follow the link in my sig it will take you to SDX-developers. Go into the forum and your looking for Samsung Moment 2.1 Development and ROMS. I suggest reading through both and seeing what you like. For a close to stock experience the above is a basic all you need but there are other options. Read through and if you need help on any of the info to apply it I can certainly assist you more! Let me know.

Wow just noticed that sorry. Just go to forums.sdx-developers.com

Thanks for the heads up.
