Moving Favourite Forums to the User CP

Musky

Android Expert
I would really like to see my list of "Favorite forums" appear in my Control Panel. Maybe on the blank left side like it does in the other forums. When I first come to the site, I go into my C.P. to see what threads that I posted to have had replies. If none of them has, I have to hit "Android Forums" to get to a page that shows my favorite so I can check those out. I follow threads that I haven't posted in so they don't show up in my C.P.

So it would save some steps to have my favorites listed along the side. I don't really want to "subscribe" to them, I would just like them available so I can check them as I want.

I hope I've explained this so it makes some sense! LOL :D

If there is already a better way to do this, please let me know. I may very well be missing something.

Thanks for all the great work here in AF!

I totally second this musky. Though its only 1 or 2 extra clicks it would be nice if they showed up while in the CP

So you use the "x unread posts since you last visit" you mean, and you'd like at least that moved to UserCP, if not the whole thing?

My subscribed threads contains thread that are all over AF while the Favourite only contains MOD/Guide/Staff Forums related threads. I think for most people it's something similar, Favourite will only contain a few Forums they use regularly but they post in other Forums too and will use the UserCP for those threads.

I wasn't necessarily talking about ALL the "forums that have had posts since my last visit" just my "Favorite forums", be in my CP, but I guess having both would work too!

The 'X unread posts since your last visit" thing Phases mentioned is part of the favourite forums box, so I thought that was what we were talking about. It's certainly what I was talking about :p

I know the list of new posts for every section exists but personally I don't use it.

yea the 'all unread' link is a part of the 'favorite forums' isn't it. I have used it once or twice but its nothing very essential to me. Having the 'favorites' in the user cp would be nice. Thats the only time it doesn't show i believe(unless you're in a thread)

Well the "all new posts" link isn't a part of the plugin, I added that to extend on it, but yeah I use the heck out of that. I subscribe to moderator forums, suggestion box, update section, etc - and click that link every time it says there is something new so I can monitor things.

I guess it's more useful for me. :P I was assuming that moved over would meet your needs though - not the entire plugin.

So you mean show the whole thing somewhere on the main page of the UserCP.. got it.

Are we talking Move or copy? the reason I ask is I find it very handy wehere it is now and wouldn't want it moved further away.

No objections to it being in CP too.

I use that feature extensively when I log into AF too, so you're not alone there, boss ;)

Thats what i meant anyway. I've probably got 14(at least) in my 'favorites' so the few times i do hit the 'all unread' link it is a VERY long list. So long that it is really too confusing to use it much. I like that its there but i only use it sparingly at best. Having the entire plug-in in user cp would be a HUGE time saver for me

I use it for every section of AF that i frequent. All the sections i 'patrol' as a guide plus all the sections i read/post in; computers, literature, sports, etc...

Off topic but am i just noticing that there is a 'similar threads' section at the bottom of page or is that something new?
(its likely that i'm just blind, lol)

I used to do that until it got way too much. I subscribe to Forums I want to keep an eye out. The favourite is AF work related only, lol so viewing 'all new posts' come in handy.

Hmm, if you just subscribe then they are only easily accessed from cp(right?)
Plus even if i used it only for 'work' related sections it would still be a mess for me. I 'guide' 6 or 7 phone sections and the unread posts for even just those is a colossal amount, lol.
I like that no matter where i'm at in the forums that I can use my favorites to get ANY where else in AF i wanna go:p

I use the' subscribe to forum' extensively over on XDA and miss it here. I go right to my user CP and start at the top. It would be great to have it over here.

Yes, but I always have my UserCP opened, so it's not as big of a hassel :P
Thats true but i jump from cp to my threads so often when i'm on that i almost never actually get to scroll down to forums unless i actually get caught up(which hasn't in like FOREVER, lol)
Only forums i'm subscribed to are Literature and TeaTime(though there's NOTHING going on in teatime one thanks to that damned phases!!)
I want Teatime! I want Teatime!

We do have 'subscribed' forum feature accessible through user cp...
