Okay, I am running Redux 1.2 with a custom mtd. I want to change to a custom hboot [oxygen_r2].

What is the procedure to change from custom mtd to custom hboot?

backup rom
reflash recovery from fastboot (or android flasher) as the cmtd patch patches the recovery file
boot to fastboot
fastboot flash hboot hbootimgnamehere.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot erase system
fastboot erase cache
boot to recovery, restore backup

Cheers Rastaman.

Two things. I normally flash an image file via Android Flasher. How do I flash an .img in fastboot?

How do I reboot bootloader from fastboot?

Edit: After I flashed the hboot .img the phone rebooted and when I went to reboot, the bottom option was to Reboot Bootloader!!! Not sure about where erase system and erase cache are.

Thanks Dan, I actually remembered the piece on your ROM thread and followed that. Is erase system and erase cache the same as format system and format cache?

Edit: looks like I have got there as the system partition says its size is 100mb and the cache partition is 5mb.

Thank you both for your help.

when i said
fastboot erase system and
fastboot erase cache
i meant type it using fastboot from your cmd prompt on your pc
i dont assume what recovery you have

I cant get the source for that so its the 5.0.2.3 :(

pm me whats up your sleeve
if you messing around with 5 then youll need to put back support for amend

you might want to pm koush and ask him to release sources as its a requirement of gpl

I need it. Ive been talking to the dev and he is quite forthcoming but I dont understand some of the code.

He is working on a port to cwm 5 though

What are you two like lol :-)

I didn't think you used CWM, Rastaman, so thought these may have been commands for A-R recovery. I have just had a bad experience with CWM 2.5.0.9 which Dan got me through so I am a bit cautious about these things at the mo. As I said, your original post made me remember the piece on Dan's thread for his ROM and I got sorted in the end. I don't really use the cmd prompt and would need to read up on that before being happy to use it.

Thanks again.

Am I right in thinking I can change the hboot now at any time I want, as long as there is enough room in the system partition for the ROM? It is a case of just flash the hboot.

those commands are universal :P
they are fastboot commands
im using rmd recovery now which i can do all that inside recovery like CWM

you must backup and restore rom every time you do a hboot change
