Root Moving on from Deisre on a budget

I've had my Desire for almost two years and since rooting earlier this year I am enjoying all the possibilities it opened up. I am happy to keep it a while longer but am wondering what the next step for me would be in terms of a newer phone with the following criteria in mind: -

• I'm on budget, can't afford

How about a Galaxy S2. Last year's superstar. Still a very good phone, powerful enough to play graphically intensive games.

Weird!! Don't have the money right now but that looks a good deal. Of course I may keep my Desire a little while longer and get a Tablet

Well I have been running BCM (CM9 ROM) [ROM][MOVED] ICS 4.0.4 BCM RC4.1U2 GSM/CDMA <2012-07-03> (Bravo CM9 HWA) - xda-developers for about 2 weeks and must say it is great, stable, fast and smooth with a good battery life so could conceivably keep my Desire a while yet but with my birthday and Christmas within 8 weeks of each other I'm gonna have some cash to splash!

Hi, call me picky, but the Samsungs all look way to flashy for me.. Dunno, like the HTC good-oldschool feel. Keeping mine, despite having it for over 2 years now.
