Help mp3 files not showing up Evo 4G

i use the drag and drop to put mp3 files on my sd card, none of the files i paste into the folders show up. i've tried putting them into the music folder and the ringtone folder, doesn't work. it recognizes the files on my computer but not on the phone.

Does the computer recognize the files are on the sd card when the phone is plugged in

Try to help the media player to index the new media files with running the free app SDRescan (Market).

EDIT: I take it that you are not connected to your PC when you try to play the mp3

computer recognizes it in the folder while the phones plugged in, it just doesn't show up on the phone.

May sound obvious, but are you sure the sd card is mounted? Have you tried reformatting then adding the songs?

Are you positive the sd card is compatible with the phone? How long ago did this start?

it's the same sd card that came with the phone!
i was able to put a couple songs at first but nothing shows up now.

Can you see the pictures that are on the sd card?

pictures show up fine, it's just audio files that don't.

Search for a ".nomedia" files in the music directories and delete them. These usually hide music files on the phone.
