I have recently brought a new laptop running Vista.

I am now having problems with new albums i rip to my laptop and then transfer to my Desire. When I sync to my desire and then refresh my music libuary it keeps saying unknown artist.

I have tried doing it many different ways, with Windows Media player, dragging and dropping the files into my desire. I have also checked the properites of each MP3 and all the correct information is there. Dose anyone know why this is happening? Is it Vista? Is there an app on the Market which allows you to update the track data once on your phone like you can with the album art.

Any help would be great, I am really fussy with my music and like everything to be correct so this is driving me mental lol :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Argh this is driving me crazy. I tried using the program you said above but with no luck. Save the tags, transfer the music over and still it says unknown artist. All the other tags are ok, even the album art.

I downloaded an app on the market place called Audio editor (or somehting like that) which allows you to edit the tags from your phone but again the artist field wont change.

Since getting my new laptop I have "ripped" 3 albums and synced them to my phone and its only these 3 which are giving me problems.

Are you definitely using MP3? I know that there are some problems with tagging and WMA. I guess that if you are ripping with Windows Media Player that it could default to WMA file formats?

You may want to rip with another app...try MediaMonkey and see if the tags stick then

Cheers

No sorry i should've been more clear. I am using WMA and not MP3 but i have been since getting my Desire. Seems strange that its only happened since going to my new laptop and Vista. Guess there's some sort of issue with it. I'm guessing Media Monkey rips as MP3.

I will try this hopefully it'll work. Bloody technolodgy :D

If it is a recent thing, since Vista...I suspect that WMP will have an option somewhere to tag directly to the file or keep it in a database..

That would be worth looking at too.

Cheers

Cool. I will have a proper play with it later or at the weekend. Thanks for all your help
