Can someone explain to me what OC kernel is? I'm guessing its overclocking the CPU to run at 1.7 or whatever, compared to the stock 1ghz. Are there any downsides to overclocking? less battery life and shorten phone life?

What about iced glacier? what is the diff between that and stock sense UI that comes w the phone? I just fully customized everything with launcher pro plus so I really dont see a need to change out the ROM unless it has something the stock setup doesnt.

yes OC = over clocking the processor, it does shorten battery life however personally I can take mine to 1.7 I usually keep it at about 1.2 to 1.4.
Iced-Glacier has most of the bloat ware removed and the ROM has been de-odexed and optimized as far as preformance.

Thanks. What does de-odexed mean? Is it stock android (vanilla) or just the mytouch version optimized?

considering how new the phone is (barely a month) so far I have been impressed with the Dev community... Permanent root, S-off (not just bootloader but completely unlocked so phone can be used on other carriers without having to beg TMO for an unlock code) and a couple of ROMs. It seems a lot of people complain about the slow development, but think about how long G1 was out before they got any of that. to me it's just kind of killing the development community that as soon as a new device comes out everyone runs to it expecting everything to be ready on day 1 and if it's not as expanded as the G1 and N1 with in a few weeks then "it's a dead device" so the race to get the next big thing is on. After getting burned with the BH2 and seeing how crappy the Galaxy S "Vibrant" was and how fast my In-Laws returned them for all sorts of issues I swore I'd never buy another SamSux product again... seeing that the NS is basically just a warmed up Galaxy S I'll pass and hold off getting a "Google Phone" until they pull their heads out and get back with HTC or Moto
Hello. . . Just one question. How did you unlock your MT4G? Thanx

Greetings all! I've had the MyTouch 4G for a few days now and...LOVE IT! Never been huge fan of espresso (mostly because of the bubbles), and I used to have to use LauncherPro Plus to get rid of them without rooting, but now I'm using the "Androidian" MyModes theme from the market and gone are the bubbles from stock espresso. Also if you want to make chages to the theme, you can swap png's out (using 7zip or the like) with ones more to your liking. If anyone hasn't seen the theme yet you can get it on the market. Just search "Androidian" or "Mytouch 4G."

I'm coming from a Samsung Vibrant & the MT4G provides everything I was missing from that phone. It's practically perfrect!

One thing, for some reason the stock SMS app force closes quite a bit. What other apps can you recommend? I've heard lots of good things about Handcent. Any others I should try?

I also came over from a Vibrant... the Vibrant was nice, but I switched to the MT4G while I was still within my 14 days. Love this phone!
