Root MT611 Ad blocker?

Hey all. I just recently downloaded a game I want to try, and all it will do is come up with a splash screen that more or less translates to "shame on you for using an ad-blocker!!!"

In-app ads haven't ever bothered me much to begin with, but for the life of me, I can't remember or can't find where to go in Megatron 6.1.1 to turn ad-blocking off. Where would I look for this setting?

Hey X.
MegaTron doesn't have a setting that I can remember for ad blocking. I always used ROM toolbox to do that.

Maybe that's where I saw the setting. I knew it was in an app, and since I haven't used ROM Toolbox in a while, it'd explain why I can't find it. Still though, it begs the question what's been edited in MegaTron that it "naturally" blocks ads... :stupido2:

You know I don't know. I never thought about it but now that you said something, I don't remember seeing a lot of ads. On some games they were still there but that is what ROM toolbox was for.

Well, thanks to some help from oamilcar, I figured it out. So here's the solution for anyone else who would like to enable ads:

1. Open ES file explorer or your preferred root explorer.
2. Make sure permissions for editing the /system folder are enabled. For ES, this means going into Settings, Root settings, and checking the box next to "Mount system as r/w". Also, make sure the file explorer app is granted SU permissions by the SU app.
3. Navigate to /system/etc, and locate a file named "hosts"
4. Rename it to "hosts.bak", and that's it!
5. To re-disable ads, rename "hosts.bak" back to "hosts" or install an ad-blocker app from the Play store.

That's it for me. Good luck, all! :D
