Root MTDEV Will Live On!

MikeRL

Android Enthusiast
Well, it seems like I am a lot of talk and no show. I am learning C currently. I will not be a professional (that takes a lifetime of coding). I do not yet know C++. But I am learning the basics. I am fortunate enough to get a good college education (my community college actually has some professors who have taught at major universities, retired, and wanted to teach again, so they came here.) Unfortunately, MS runs the school. No github or GCC is being taught. They tell me the world runs Windows. They have, however, offered to assist me in learning GCC. The path is long and difficult, but once I have enough knowledge (think 6 months to a year, by then I should know C almost completely and some C++), I will do more than just write FAQs. I know this sounds like all talk, but give me time to acquire knowledge and I would love to assist MTDEV by fixing the camera if possible. I will not accept any donations until I fix the camera 100%. I am not here to rob you guys. Most of MTDEV has moved on (they have done excellent work, but the Triumph is a mess thanks to Moto) and they deserve a break. They have lives and have even less free time than I. I can imagine this will stress me out too, but it is an excellent way to test my knowledge, before I code for a company (hopefully) in the years ahead. Not only do I wish to be able to help you guys, this will teach me enough to test my real life skills. I know that people cannot afford to just upgrade and upgrade their hardware just because they need a software update the handset manufacturer should have given them (imagine if PCs were like this!) I am so sick of seeing the consumer get screwed over big time, and I will use my knowledge to fix this mess. Just hold on, guys. I am busy with testing and studying now, but I will not forget this. I still have a working Triumph, and I might as well put it to use. I will not forget my promises. If the camera cannot be fixed 100%, I will let everyone know. But seeing as how we have came this far, I certainly think a 100% fix is possible. I am by no means going to be a professional by then, but I am hoping I will have some knowledge. The rest of MTDEV knows oodles more than I do currently. But I want to become an asset around here. Just a little PSA that if you guys can keep hanging on, I will not drop off the earth and will help you all. Why not assist now? I am busy and it would distract me from my studies, and all in all I would probably be able to fix no more than everyone else has. I'm talking big here, but just have some faith. And a lot of patience. I am writing this because I feel that everyone is slowly loosing hope that the Triumph will ever realize its full potential. Not slamming any of MTDEV, but I'm the one with the time to learn, no family to worry about, and the gift of having a little bit of a better chance in life. I want to use that to help you guys. MTDEV is talented, but let's face it, although they are doing it to help us all, without formal training specialized in the correct area that can fix the camera, they are only going to rack their brains out and we will never get the camera. They are still geniuses (some are teenagers with a future, network admins, virtualization experts, and diagnostic specialists), but nobody specializes in C, C++, and Android. I know I may be sounding like an ass, and I apologize if I do, but I will share the wealth of knowledge with the rest of you guys in the future. Once again, I don't mean to sound like a dick, but our current situation is equivalent to asking a pediatrician to be an adult doctor. You guys are smart, and I'm sure if it wasn't this particular camera mess, you would have fixed it by now. I am highly impressed that a bunch of self-taught hackers have gotten this far. I applaud the efforts. You guys may even fix it 100% by the time I am knowledgeable enough to help. We all fail and succeed at different things. MTDEV has had one failure, but countless successes. For example, I suck at hardware and networking. But I will succeed in coding. Maybe if the parts combine into a whole, the Triumph will shine. I have never criticized you guys. But I am providing constructive criticism. :) If you have a headache with the Triumph, take an extended break and I hope I will be knowledgeable enough to fix it in the future. I have no crystal ball, but perhaps if I can assist you all, you can make ROMs for enjoyment for this device, and stop racking your brains with the camera.

I didn't even read all of it lol but I was a long time lurker and once I got the evo v I decided well I'm going to try and make ROMs and stuff. I just jumped in and didn't learn c++ but hey I just wanna try and give my 2 cents. So until my triumph bricks I will try and work on ROMs. In fact I whenever Ubuntu comes out I will try and get that to run on this phone even tho it probably won't work since they said u have to have at least dual core but I'm going to still try. So I may not be a good developer but I will work and learn along the way.

Yeah you guys are talented. And smart. But since this is my career path I'm gonna try and put in a crapton of effort one day. I just figured that since so many people are stuck with this thing, I should commit to it down the road. I am fortunate to be majoring in something that will also help out around here. I know less than everyone else now, but I have hope to have as much ambition but more training. I apologize if I sound rude, but I want to bring expertise in one day. I am not that good now, I just don't want anyone to think the Triumph will be abandoned. I also want those guys to actually be able to make ROMs and not have to spend so much time on the camera. The Triumph has quickly turned into the Vietnam war of coding.

I'm not apart of mtdev I just work on n ROMs. If I could help wit camera I would but idk that much. I'm just trying stuff til it bricks since I don't even use the phone I plan on porting dianxan os them a custom cm10. But good luck to ya man

One thing that I see in the phone's code is in the cameraHAL. I would like to see some debugging code in it. At least what I have read in my Android developing book, I imagine that C++ has a simular way to catch an error and move on. That way the system can move on. Anyway, I know I'm talking out my butt. I look forward to what you have to offer.
