Multi-tasking?

Hi All,

Just got my S2 two days ago and coming from a Palm Pre and WebOS which multi-tasks using "cards" i.e. you have several "cards" open say sms, internet, contacts and can then swipe left or right to the next open app. I found it useful for copy a number from internet to sms.

As the S2 can have several apps open at once is there a quick way to go straight from one open app to another open app i.e. browser to messaging?

Loving the phone and learning to Android.

Welcome to the Droid side! :D

Not sure if this is particularly helpful, but if you long hold the Home button, it brings up a list of recently used apps. So if you're in a web browser and have copied a link to send via e-mail (which you have already opened), long hold the Home button, select the e-mail app and hey presto, takes you straight there where it should be in whatever screen you left it

that's awesomely helpful - thanks. Now loving the Android a bit more.

Good stuff!

Not sure about the abilities of WebOS as I have come from iOS, but the customisation of Android is absolutely ace. It will take a while to get used to, but boy is it worth it :)

I've ordered a sgs2 and I'm just wondering if I need a task killer or if that is unnessisary due to the dual-core processor? My friends HTC Desire HD starts lagging and stuff if he doesn't use a task killer so... I believe that's all. Thanks in advance :)

There is a pre-installed task manager. Task killers are generally frowned upon on the latest versions of Android OS. They seem to be too aggressive and often times kill processes that are needed. I find the program that comes pre-installed to be quite helpful.

Pre-installed one is adequate is is very good (at least in my experience) in multi-tasking, yet when I reload apps, it's instant. No waiting or "re-building" like on iOS.

:D

And don't forget 1GB OF RAM. LOLO :D:D:D Say goodbye to lag. :)

Maybe you should also try out the app "wave launcher" works pretty well

The Itching Thumb app give a WebOS like deck of cards view. The only thing I would like for additional function is for the background tasks to keep running, with updated thumbnails.

This is gonna sound stupid...but can you tell me how to use this on the GS2. I just can't seem to get it working. The screenshots of it looked like just what I wanted...but it just won't work. Perhaps a quick walkthrough of what you did once you installed it please.?? :D:D
