Accessories Multimedia dock alternatives?

As we know the multimedia dock is hideously overpriced, ill consider it at $60 or less.

does anyone know any alternatives?

And or i was thinking would a miniusb male to usb female + a usb hub + minihdmi to hdmi do the same thing as the dock? it will have the usb ports to take keyboard and mouse.
 
Now that it has been rooted I want to assume yes... I got tripplite cables for $2.99 each and already have a bluetooth mouse/keyboard combo, but we will see upon release most likely.
 
I bet they do some lame "proprietary" thing on the usb to prevent this (swap +V and D- or D+ to make it not play nice). Wait no that would suck then all my microusb chargers/cables wouldn't work. I bet its possible. No clue of knowing until we get it though.
 
The atrix docks sideways with the minihdmi and microusb in. From what i can see they left the minihdmi alone... they didnt even convert it to HDMI. They have 3 usb ports (keyboard, mouse, harddrive). but then they have 2 separate ones, a idk port that is super tiny, and a 3.5mm out. Idk how it justifies being over 60 bucks. but yeah i wouldn't mind saving 40 bucks~ by making it myself.
