Help Multiple issues with galaxy Note 2

First off Hi and thanks in advanced to anyone that can or tries to help. I'm an ex Iphone person now using the note 2.

Issues I am experiencing are messaging freezes and crashes the phone (messaging program that comes with the phone preinstalled)

No matter what I try with the program Kies it doesnt work with my phone for anything. It freezes hangs and does nothing except erase anything I may have had on the phone (sd card) using a 64 sandisk. Currently using itunes and easy phone to get any music on my phone sd card.

My alarm clock didnt go off this morning. Again the Alarm that comes with the phone and I have a song as my melody and it is on the sd card (was thinking maybe thats the problem.)

The biggest problem I am having is I can't find the feature to disable access to specific programs. I dont like the programs having access to everything it does I want to control this and I am unsure how to do so.

Thanks again stoogejunky

I rarely use Kies as it is pretty slow on the PC. Even without it though you should be able to connect the phone directly to the PC and have it show up in My Computer as a drive. Just ensure that in Settings->Developer options you have USB Debugging unticked.

With the alarm I am not sure as I use the built in sounds but the easiest thing is to set a test alarm for a minute in advance. You can have as many as you want. Also, remember to press save at the top. It used to save alarm options just by using the back button (either a few updates ago or on my Note 1) but now you have to explicitly save changes.

When you get apps from the play store you can check what access they have under permissions. By default you can't configure this on a per app basis though there is software to allow you to do so. I found one in the f-droid repository which is run by the Free Software Foundation.

You can just disable some of the built in apps in Settings->Application manager-All

I came from and iPhone and using Kies was not fun at all. Had a lot of the same issues. I started using Player Pro in conjunction with isyncr to sync all my music. This would keep my playlist in sync as well.
However, another option you have (which will reduce the amount of memory you use) is to just use the Google Play Music Manager, which is what I use now. As opposed to the $25 Apple charges for their iTunes Match service, Google's service is free and allows you to match/upload up to 20,000 songs from your computer to your Google Play account using Music Manager, which is a small app installed on your PC. It runs in the background and anytime you add songs in your itunes, it makes those changes in Google Play as well. You can stream any of those songs directly to your Note 2 using the Google Music app. This is true streaming as opposed to Apple's Match, which downloads each song to your device. With Google Play, you do have the option to download songs to keep them on the device (in case you will be offline for an airline flight, for example).

The only drawback is that it doesn't keep my playlist in sync with itunes, but I don't have to worry about running out of space, upgrading my card to a larger size or waiting until I connect to my computer to listen to a song I may have added to my iTunes library. FWIW.

I am not having any luck looking in f-droid for the program you vagely mentioned. I have been reading for a day now and no luck yet and as for the alarm clock idea I tried as you sugested before I mentioned the problem. That worked because I think the phone was still running and not ion stand by. So I tried it in stand by and it again works. but as for the morning nope did it again as for this morning I used the app and not the widget one and it worked however the snooze shut the alarm off and didnt go off in 10 minutes at 3 times like I set it. also took the day off as if it wasnt ever set. had it set to repeat every week. wondering if there is an issue with the sd card that I am using sandisk 64 gb.

I just use the alarm clock from the clock settings and no widget. Don't forget you have to select which days it is on for. So, the day you set it it will fill that day by default but not the following days. You have to press them manually.

I also don't bother with snooze so can't help you there. I actually have 3 week day alarms and separate weekend ones.
