multitasking button

I have an android tablet and even though the multitasking button is great it lags sometimes and I heard in a review it lags on the galaxy nexus when you don't use it for a while. Just wanted to know if it is quick.

I haven't seen any lag in it yet, but the most applications I have ever had open was 12 - 13 (I forgot to check it for a while one day), so if it is a function of heavier (20+ apps?) use I don't know.

my questions is, does swiping the app away truly kill it? For example, if music is playing in the background, and i swipe away the music app, will the music stop? If I am at a website in the browser and i swipe the browser away, will I be taken to the default homepage on my next browser launch?
