Music manager combination for Windows & Android?

Google Play Music = awful
MediaMonkey = Playlists don't sync
WinAmp = Unable to sync to SD Card; internal storage only
iTunes = Are you kidding?

What does everyone use to manage their music in Windows and on their Android Devices? Am I missing any other solutions? I prefer to sync OTA/Wifi versus USB.

Oh USB. Never tried if it has WiFi support. I don't have WiFi in my apartment. I just use my phone to tether. I have true unlimited data (not in US).

I use MediaMonkey for Windows and Android. It absolutely DOES sync music files AND playlists--which is one of the key reasons that I love it. (I'm currently syncing ~27GB of music and over a dozen playlists, some of which have well over 100 songs. Works perfectly. They recently released new versions of both the desktop software and Android app, reportedly in part to improve synchronization so you may want to give it another try.) Following is a post about the total MediaMonkey solution. And following that is a link explaining how to sync music and playlists.

Playlists do not consistently sync properly over wifi. . I've contacted MediaMonkey concerning the issue and they are aware of this well known issue.

Oh. I didn't know that and didn't see a WiFi requirement in your OP. I've been syncing MediaMonkey over USB-- which has been working perfectly for me.

I guess they'll be pretty motivated to fix WiFi-sync because it's one of the few premium features in the paid version of the app.

I honestly liked MM a lot... I wanted it to work out so badly, but in the end, it just wasn't a reliable solution for me. At this point, GPM is doing the trick.. Thanks for your input, greatly appreciated.

Prior to drinking the Google Play Music Koolaid, I used to use MusicBee. I just tested and it works (so I wouldn't lead you astray).

Set up your music as you want on your desktop. Then plug in your phone via USB. It will show up as a USB device, most likely with your phone's model number. Right click and select device/sync settings. Tell it which playlist(s) and which librar👍(ies) you want synced. Close that, then click the sync button. Wait for however long it takes.

I used to find it faster to remove the MicroSD card and place that directly into my PC, at least for syncing 15+GB of music. Also, note that you should use a different app on the device, such as PowerAMP. The Google Music app hates local playlists not synced from Play Music, and I've found that they tend to disappear randomly.

Thank you for your reply. I too have tried MusicBee...a few things that I didn't like and were deal breakers for me.

- There's not an Android app for MusicBee
- No Wifi Sync to SD Card (KILLER)
- Musicbee wasn't syncing all file types of music for me

Again, I need wifi or OTA sync of music and playlists from Windows Desktop to Android devices. At this point, GPM is my manager of choice. I just wish the Android app was better.

I see that as a net positive. Use the Android music app of choice (for me it was PowerAMP), and your desktop music app of choice (I used to use MediaMonkey, but switched to MusicBee). You don't need both apps to match for features to work.

- No Wifi Sync to SD Card (KILLER)

I'll look into this for you and post tomorrow. Hopefully I can come up with a better solution for you.

You need to adjust the sync settings per device, or it just makes the best guess. I tell it to sync as is with no converting. I've had a playlist with a mix of MP3 (320k), LAME MP3, OGG, FLAC, and even WAV. Are you using formats other than that? My last phone was an S4 GPE, and I know for a fact that I had to change the sync settings, or it would just convert everything to OGG by default.

EDIT: I may have missed this, but are you rooted? MusicBee will sync wirelessly for rooted users through a third party app.
