Help Music player and the supplied headset

I have, for the first time, plugged in the supplied headset/earphones.
I have noticed that the play button doesn't control the standard media player.
I installed Winamp a while back, and the controller on the head set controls this. I have un-installed Winamp, but I still cannot control the factory installed media player.
Also the controller doesn't have a volume control. Every headset I've had has had a volume control... This one has play, forward and back only... Strange!

How can I get the controller to control the factory install music player?

I think I have solved this... or at least found a word around...
I need to play the music using a widget. All other software plays direct, but the built in music software need to be played using the widget to get the headset to work it... A bit weird but it works.
I was pleased to discover that Spotify works using the headset. This will make listening in work a lot easier

It has to be said, the sound quality of my N97 Mini is far better then the Desire Z... I need to find an equalizer app to get more bass into the sound... Flat as hell!
