Help Music Player - How does it affect the battery life?

Hey everyone :)

I bought my HTC Sensation about two months back, absolutely love the phone, but have not yet used the music player as I already use an iPod. However I hate having to use two different things (on the bus etc) and would like to start using my phone as my iPod equivalent too. If I wanted to listen to music for say, an hour and a half a day, how badly would that affect the battery life? Because tbh, the battery life is already awful on mine and only lasts for about 8 hours after being fully charged over night (I have recently uninstalled ATK as I seem to have fell for it's apparent battery saving powers too).

Any help would be appreciated, cheers!

Mine uses very little power when listening to music - I can easily have it on for a couple of hours with much loss of power. You could try other music apps as well - I use MixZing and think it is much better than HTC's stock app.

If battery life is that bad try switching off Bluetooth and WiFi when you are not using them. You could also try buying a better battery - I use a couple of Anker batteries I bought from Amazon and they are much better than the stock one.

if 8 hours is what you get normally, you're either a very heavy user, haven't had the device for very long (the battery improves after the first few days of use as it... does something; i don't know) or have something faulty going on (possibly a battery draining app)

Yeah I've wondered why the battery life is so terrible, it was just as bad on my Xperia X10 when I first bought it then the battery life did start to improve. Also, I tried uninstalling ATK yesterday, and my battery went from 100% to 18% in less than two hours :( Just wondering why because isn't it supposed to drain your battery rather than save it? Confused! I think it may have had something to do with the Music Paradise app that I downloaded earlier today, so I've just uninstalled it.

I wouldn't say I'm a heavy user either, not at all. I send about 30 texts a day, don't make many calls (maybe around 20 minutes a day depending on where I am) and don't play music or games.

Could it have something to do with the My Location widget on one of my home screens? I never have GPS on as I don't need it, so how do I stop that from updating when I'm out? Also, are there any particular battery draining apps I should watch out for? As I do have a lot of games installed.

Sorry for all the questions :o
