music player runs wild/help installing apps

I recently bought a used Samsung Behold 2 without any docs, sim card, or carrier service.
2 questions:
Is there some way to install apps which I have downloaded via my laptop onto my behold 2? (I have a SD port on my laptop and an adapter for the micro SD card).

...and...

The Behold has just today begun shifting away from any app I am running (like 'Midnite Bowling') and start up the music player, even if it is simply resting on the desk. Or the screen might just go dark. (This does NOT seem to happen while I'm watching a video I've loaded).
