Music Player SmackDown

I agree, it's probably the best music player for Android. And the new widgets are awesome. It also was the very first app I bought ;-)

The ONE thing I hate about PowerAmp is that it doesn't seem to update the playlists immediately. I have to delete and import every time I update them via my PC, unlike Player Pro or the default player. :(

What's that supposed to do? I mean I already sync the files and playlists into the phone. The rest of the music apps already see the playlists fine. Just PowerAmp that refuses to do so.

I think I'm going to give the PowerAmp trial a go. Out of laziness I've always just used the stock music player on my Note 2 but the lack of lockscreen controls is too annoying. I hope whoever at Samsung decided not to include lockscreen controls got fired.

Here is how I sync my songs with Poweramp....it works for me.

1. Download song.
2. Open Dropbox on my big old home computer.
3. Upload song to Dropbox.
4. Move the song to "Music" folder (in Dropbox).
5. Turn on my smartphone.
6. Open DropSync and select those two arrows that form a circle (autosync function).
7. Give it a minute to sync.
8. Open Poweramp.
9. Select All Songs.
10. Find the song you just uploaded and select "Add to Playlist".

I have a Galaxy S4 and when I use the stock Music Player I get lockscreen controls. I don't know what I did to get them, they have just always been there.

Is that running 4.2? Maybe it's something they added in that update, or they may have just improved the music player for the S4.

I've just double checked the Music Player settings and lockscreen settings and I'm sure it's not something I'm missing :(

By default, the music control widget is on the left lockscreen. You can put widgets on the lockscreens on the S4. However if you put a pin or pattern lock, the left and right lockscreens are inaccessible. You'd need to use a different player or lockscreen app.

I've never tried Apollo before (actually can't seem to find it in the store - just a lot of themes for it?) but PowerAmp remains one of the best apps I have ever paid for. Not only is the sound awesome (I rip my mp3s at 320k however) but the EQ actually works really well. The lock screen controls are great and I like how it presents the album art - with a background of colors based on the colors of the album art. But anyway, most importantly, I really love the sound.
