Music player to replace native app?

Hi, wondering what is a good music player app to get...one that has a STOP button??!! Hate the native app on the Droid :(

You don't need a stop button. Just pause the song if you don't want to hear anything playing. Then press the home key and go find something else to do.

If it makes you feel any better, iPods don't have a stop button, either. :)

Few apps on the Android platform actually have an "exit" option. It is because the Android does a really good job of managing memory on its own. If you just go back home it will allow you to fire up the app faster later. If your phone gets low on memory, it will automatically close unnecessary applications you aren't using.

I don't care about a stop button, but a replacement Music app would be great, perhaps something a bit more feature-rich than the bare-bones stock app. Any suggestions?

if i might ask, what features do you need exactly? the stock music player and pandora pretty much fulfill all my music needs.

Just a few things
some sort of equalizer, or at least some presets
Perhaps a better UI
a better sorting system that lets me sort by things other than artist and album
some sort of song rating system, like the start system iTunes has.
Don't get me wrong, its usable as it is, but on a phone like this, A barebones media player is just not acceptable.

How about a music player that plays my music in the track order of the album rather than alphabetically, without having to manipulate my music on my pc.

Or how about a music player that does NOT PAUSE between tracks...not a big deal unless you listen to live concert recordings 90% of the time, like me.

IMO, the biggest disappointment in the DROID. I can live with a so-so camera and a few bugs in an OS in its infancy, or even the lack of some apps early on, but this music player has got to go, and I don't think there is an acceptable replacement in the app store (yet)

okay, I'm done ranting

Really, I do love the phone:D

Um....you can make playlists from the phones stock media player. Just long press on the song you want to add and a list of options shows up.

With the stock music playeryouj can make new playlists..

That's wonderful, how about explaining HOW this is done....

I've found this to be dependent on the album. Some do and some don't. There should be a way to update audio tags on the phone

With the program itag you can edit the info from your phone. I had to use that the other day to get an audiobook to play in the correct order

Correctly tagged MP3's will play in track order no matter how they're named. Any half decent ripper will add these tags automatically. I've had no issues with tracks playing out of order on my droid. EQ and gapless playback would be nice though

I just downloaded mixzing and I found it to work a lot better than the stock player. The stock player is constantly changing the tempo on my music. One day all of my music was playing like alvin and the chipmunks was singing. Then in the middle of the track it would slow down to a crawl and speed right back up. Plus every track would skip like an old cd player would.

For the life of me, I can't figure out how to shuffle all songs by a certain artist or category in either the stock player or mixzing lite. I can shuffle only after selecting the album, and hitting 'shuffle all' from the menu does so for all songs no matter where in the selection process you are. Am I missing something?

I'll say it again...

Has ANYONE found a freaking gapless playback capable player for Android?? Something so freaking simple and no one has created one?? Am I gonna have to learn how to create apps?? Geesz.

Just venting...a lot of sarcasm there. haha

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to let you know that I have made a new music player called bTunes Music Player. Try it out and let me know what you think. Feel free to give suggestions. Thanks.

edit: By the way, bTunes has an "Exit" button that will stop the player and close the app. :)

I wish! Several of my favorite albums have an instrumental intro that leads into track 2 and it ruins it! And listening to "Colors" by Between the Buried and Me, :(

I just downloaded your player not a bad start. I like it better than the native player.I hate the iphone Ui which I know is the point for familiarity but,I just prefer anything non-crapple.That aside you did a good job, keep up the good work.
