Music Player Widget

Although Google Play is a decent app/widget, I am looking to replace the widget play with something a little more polished. There are many nice music widgets out there but I have noticed only those that play music which is stored locally on the phone itself.

All of my music is in the Google Play cloud ((although I have made it all 'available offline' to reduce data transfer usage))

I'm looking for suggestions on what can replace the stock Google widget player. Any help is appreciated.

If it matters:

  • I am running stock
  • On Verizon LTE USA

I use Plug In Music Widget with Google Play streaming everyday. Haven't had any issues. The widget I use is transparent with ICS blue color. Looks a million times more polished than the stock music widget on my Verizon GNex.

@pchain: Thanks! I downloaded it. Definitely looks better than the stock widget. Only thing I'm wondering is why the album art does not work for the widgets.

@Gandalf: I will try out widgetsoid as well. I used to use it for notification controls but I found power controls to be much easier and cleaner.

I never tried the widget with the artwork...will have to see if it works on mine. I also use power controls by Developer Painless Death...

I couldn't ever figure out how to use notification controls, care to share?

Nvm figured it out, its pretty big though, anyway to trim it down?

For the brief time I was on jelly bean I did notice the stock music widget was improved with more options and album art.

here is my screen shot below. this looks slightly different than you will see simply because i am using 6x4 home screen and stretched that widget to be 2x4.

there is a transparent widget'ed google music over at XDA that works great. its the stock widget just without a dark background...used that for a LONG time
however i can't seem to find it any more. the thread where it WAS, doesn't have it any more (you may be able to find it with a search)
