On a few occasions when I answer my Note 4 music begins to play and gradually gets louder, drowning out the caller. They are able to here me but I can only hear the music. What is going on

Strange indeed. Have you asked your carrier?
(and can you copy and upload the music for me? I just luuuurve elevator music lol) ;)

No I have not. I've only had this phone for a wk. And it happened a couple times the other day and again today. So I thought I would start here. If I knew where it was coming from then maybe I could do that. Seeing that it is "ghost" elevator music, you're out of luck.....

A couple of things come to mind. First is when you answer the call and you put the phone to your ear, is the screen going to sleep? You might be accidentally touching something that mutes the caller with music, if the screen is still active when your cheek touches it. Normally that' not a problem, but the bigger phones have an issue with proximity sensors depending on which hand you use and how you hold the phone to your ear.

Is it only on incoming calls? IT could be that you somehow have enabled a call-waiting feature, The increasing music sound is something Samsung phones do with ringtones.

Yes the phone does go into sleep mode when I put it to my ear. When I answer I can hear the caller and the music both but the music gradually gets louder to where I can no longer hear the caller but the caller can hear everything I'm saying and they are unable to hear the music at all and yes it only happens on incoming phone calls.

I take it that this happens on random incoming calls and not anyone in particular. It's hard to diagnose this sort of thing when it's not repeatable. When it happens again, would it be possible instead of hanging up, open up the task list (press and hold the home button) and see if there's some odd media app running?
