Help Music Playlist Missing Entries

MSU Fan

Newbie
So this is more annoying than anything else - I have songs located on my SD card and my internal storage. And I have playlists made in HTC Music app. When I connect to a computer, obviously those songs become unavailable to the music player. I get that. But after I unplug from the computer and those drives become available again, I am left with the playlists having "lost" most if not all of the songs on them. The songs are available, and can be re-added to the playlists, but that is so ANNOYING. Why do the playlists change and can they be "saved" so that even if the song is not available, the playlist doesn't alter?

Appreciate the help!

No help eh? Let me add to this then...I have a folder called games. When I unmount/remount my SD card, any games that I have in that folder that are located on that SD card just get the generic android icon. OK, I can buy that. but then they don't update...ever. Restarts, battery pulls, etc, do nothing. But then randomly many days later, for no obvious reason, all the icons in the folder show up.

This happened yesterday. My wife's fascinate just got GB, so I was showing her some of the new features. I happened to open my game folder to show her how I had lost all the icons to my SD apps. Wait a min, all the icons are back! yay! This is at 5pm. My phone does a random restart in the next 2hrs, and then later I go to the games folder and all the icons are gone again. what gives?

Ok, so I guess I figured out half my issues. When the icons don't appear as anything other than the generic android icon, I learned that SenseUI is crashing. A force close will fix that issue. I still have no idea how to keep my playlists or keep my music from "disappearing" even though everything is mounted and available. thought that might help someone though.

I have the same issue.
There's a core group of songs that always remains, but a bunch keep dissapearing. Seems like it happens damn near every time I resart my phone.

After the latest system update that occurred a few months ago, the one that added fast boot, when the phone does a full boot, it now takes a lot longer to "install" the sd card, such that HTC sense loads before the SD card. You'll notice that icons of apps that are loaded onto the SD card take a while to load up on your screens, but they eventually do. Any icons in folders never load up because the folders are built before the SD card has been scanned.

I've started waiting until all the icons appear on my home screens, and then go to menu/scenes and reload the current scene. This fixes the icons in the folders.

I guess that the media scanners do their scan before the sd card is loaded. Recently, my media scanner (music and gallery apps) are even having trouble scanning the emmc storage. Sometimes this can be resolved by plugging your phone into a computer so that it's a disk drive and then unplugging. Sometimes you can force a rescan of the sdcard by running an app called ScanMedia. I don't know how to forces a rescan of the internal storage (emmc). I also have no answer for losing playlists.

I never had a problem with this before the latest system update. I'm thinking this emmc/sdcard discontinuity that the Incredible has is confusing for android. I know it's confusing for me. Is this the only phone that has a device called emmc?

My toshiba thrive has internal memory thats called sdcard and an actual sdcard that's called sdcard2 and that's confusing a lot of my apps. Some apps will allow you to select the device and some default to the /mnt/sdcard and won't let you change it. Unfortunately, /mnt/sdcard isn't always the actual sdcard. I'm hoping that ICS will get the mount points for the internal and sdcard storage resolved and there will stop being all these different implementations.
