check out chthonic, they sound very similar to cof, but are actually good

I'd say the epitome of true music would be classical music, operas, etc. Pure instruments, pure voices, pure sound. Nothing fake. :) It's such a pity that less and less of the populace even desire to listen to music of the fine arts anymore.
Id have to slightly disagree with you bruh. Id have to say Jazz and Blues is the epitome of true music. Not only does they capture the creative portion of music, but they also embody the entire "Emotional" system as well. Ive never felt classical like that other than the connections with family growing up. More so with Blues, you can FEEL the emotion.

i disagree with both of you - i'd say the genre doesn't matter in the slightest; every genre has examples of doing the emotive thing brilliantly, regardless of the emotion in question (of course any one genre will mostly focus on a particular set of emotions), just that people (me included) focus on listening to certain genres more and hence find the emotion there more easily

I can't believe I've never visited this part of the forum before. Here's my list:

American Football
Explosions in the Sky (Beautiful instrumentals if you're into just sitting back and relaxing)
Ken Oak Band
Lola Ray
Metric

Time for me to check out some of the suggestions posted in this thread now. :)

I tend to disagree here. I would say that the general populace are very familiar with certain aspects of the fine arts these days. mainly from movies, adverts and sports. People might hear a classical piece in an advert or a movie, they like it, they want to hear more. Especially that much western pop music can be so bad now IMO. "The Three Tenors" have been extremely successful, and that was mainly because of the FIFA World Cup.

I went to see "The Marriage of Figaro" by Mozart a couple of years ago, I'd heard the overture somewhere, I never been to an opera before in my life, I enjoyed it. I bet many people have explored the music of Wagner, mainly because of "Ride of the Valkyries". That's been used in a few movies, plus there's the famous Warner Bros - Bugs Bunny cartoon "What's Opera Doc?", MGM - Tom & Jerry "The Cat Concerto" and Disney's "Fantasia". A few years ago I had a friend asking me about Saint-Sa
