Must bid you farewell...

The Shift is a slightly lower level device than than the Epic. The Epic is faster, has the deeply saturated SAMOLED screen, a front facing camera and is still on 2.1. The Shift is less expensive, not as quick but very snappy, has 2.2 and comes without Samsung's <sic> support. Check them both out at a store and visit the shift and Epic forums, especially this thread before making your decision.

Personally, after owning the Samsung Moment and Samsung Epic, I cannot in good conscience recommend Samsung phones anymore. Great hardware kneecapped by lousy support!

From what I read the Shift is faster than the epic even though the processor is smaller its second gen and actually preforms better while at the same time consumes less battery.

Im thinking of getting the shift but ill wait for this surprise Feb 7

I'm ditching my Moment today for the Evo. Can't wait!
I too have joined the ranks of the EVO shift users and loving it. I ordered mine from Sprint on the day they released them. Yesterday, my eBay auction ended for my Moment. I was totally surprised to get over $100. bucks for it. That's makes the Shift purchase an even sweeter deal. Nice to have a phone where thing actually work.

The shift is slightly faster than the original evo.

The epic is slightly faster than the shift.

I am finally saying goodbye to the Moment this week. Ordered a white EVO 4G from Radioshack for $150 which will arrive in a couple of days. I had fun with my rooted Moment although the Airplane Mode data lockup bugged the hell out of me until I updated the kernel to inxane 6.2. Will put it up in eBay and hope to fetch better than $60.

I hope the EVO 4G is a much better phone with no serious bugs.

Those of you who have sold the Moment online, I need a few tips. Do you remove root and just have stock 2.1 DJ07 or is there some mileage if the phone is rooted with nice apps etc? I was planning to leave it at stock and let the buyer do whatever he/she likes.

I was surprised to see a lot of Evos in eBay with broken LCD and bad ESNs going for $150+. What's the deal with bad ESN? Are these hot (stolen)?

Definitely fewer. The only one I've seen is that Pandora doesn't work for a significant number of people.
And that is not just the Evo Shift.. I've seen that problem in more than 3 different phone and 3 different networks so it's an app related issue

I spent so much time at the Sprint repair center with my Moment, I was beginning to actually "know" the technicians. The phone was a total nightmare. They would "fix" it, and a week later I would be back again. I even sent an email to Dan Hesse, and was told by a underling that as long as the phone was fixed, I couldn't get a replacement. The "fixes" would last about a week, then I'd be back in airplane mode, randomly dialing folks in my address book, etc.
After about 4 months of this, I reactivated my old Blackberry 8330. Dependable, but antiquated. Since I am a Premier customer, I get a new phone each year. Feb. 1 is the big day for me. Evo here I come. I won't leave Sprint because I love the pricing, the 7 pm nightime, and the unlimited calling to other cellphones. I'll never touch another Samsung. A tech. told me that Samsung knows the Moment has issues, and has been working on fixes since day one.

I flashed my moment back to stock w/root when I sold it (got 125 for it with some accessories and a bluetooth headset I got FAR on newegg) bad ESN's are either stolen or reported lost and then found again. They can be flashed to metro PCS which is why some people buy them. good luck, I love my EVO shift.

You could contact the winner and ask them for a preference. I flashed back to plain Jane stock. I felt that any non standard software could lead to an objection and return request.

Awesome day for me. Received the white EVO 4G and sold my Moment in less than half hour after I put it on eBay. It went for $100, although I did include a bunch of accessories.

The EVO is a much better phone, but to be honest, I'm feeling a little sad to let go of the Moment. After flashing back to stock, it seemed so much more responsive. It was much first introduction to Android and if the new buyer knows anything about this and the SDX site, I'm sure he will root it in no time.

I'm gonna dump mine soon too. The Moment was my first smart phone. Actually mine hasn't given me too much trouble. Except for a few off and on quirks it's actually been ok.

I like the real keyboard so looking to replace that.
