How do you mute the camera shutter sound? I've turned down all the volumes, and used the mute shutter sound in preferences, but I still hear it.
 
There may not be a way to mute this. IF you can it will be in sounds in the main menu or in the settings of the camera. If it's not there then it's due to some states having laws against the shutter sound being muted.

This isn't the root forum, so s/he may not have that option.

But what BabyBlues said is true and you have to just accept it... unless you root, here's a way to do it: http://androidforums.com/evo-v-4g-all-things-root/564945-disable-camera-sounds.html or just run a Custom ROM that gives you the option to disable it (I know the camera in Mobster's gives you the option to turn it off and on in the settings and I know in Harmonia the shutter sound mutes when you put your phone on vibrate or silent). You should consider rooting your phone for many reasons, such as one like this, you just have so much more control over your phone - which is part of the android experience :) .
 
For stock there isn't an option. The only way is to flash a custom rom or root and remove the sound. This is htc's annoying way of being anti creep lol. It's also illegal in some states so that's the most likely reason unfortunately. :(
 
Download Silent camera (free) from the play store. It does what the name suggests. no shutter sound and you don't have to root or run custom roms.

I got it and will give us the a try for awhile. I was really looking for an app that would silent the shutter, using any camera I wanted, but as mentioned, without rooting, it's just not possible. Also, since this law is enacted to protect police from being caught doing their dirt, I'm really not worried about the legalities.
