Help My android does not vibrate on text messages!! How to fix??

So I have purchased my first android phone Samsung Galaxy Fit (GT-S5670) a couple of moths ago. Initially everything was going all right and phone vibrates on incoming text messages in silent mode. After a few weeks I noticed that there is no vibration on my text messages in silent mode whereas it vibrates on incoming calls. It just shows a 'new message icon' in the notification area. Most of the time I have to put my android to silent mode so this is a very annoying problem for me. I checked the notification setting in text message settings and it seems everything Ok there.

Any suggestion how to fix this problem??

Did you check the sound settings as well.?

I'm on my 3rd Moto Droid (Verizon keeps replacing them) with the exact same issue.

Have tried many things and would love a solution. I've got 2.3.6 right now.
