Help 'My Apps' in Play shows nothing on replacement Bionic

-=Jeff=-

Android Expert
So I swapped out my Bionic yesterday. Rooted with Motofail and installed my apps

Last night I was able to see the apps in 'My Apps' in google play

Now this AM, I get a white screen with this:

<my email address>
Apps and games owned by this account will appear here

[Browse apps]
[Browse games]

I called VZW, they said it is a google thing, I thought it was TiBackup when I tried to sync the apps with Play. Either way I did a master reset

still the same issue

I did a rest again, and when I went to the market first thing I saw all the apps (nbot installed yet, but there) then without touching the device it went to the above screen. I contacted Google abotu the issue and they said they will send it on. They asked if I had a aftermarket ROM which I don't but I am wondering now if the Rooting has something to do with the issue I see

odd thing is everything shows to be installed, but not listed in the market, I even installed a couple things since and those will not even show

any suggestions? my next thought will be to RSDlite and flash 902 fresh to remove root and try again..

Every once in a while the Market (Play Store) app will do stuff like this, though I haven't seen it on my phone for a while (perhaps because I am stock and haven't installed a custom ROM with a data wipe every other day in a while ;) ). You can try settings->applications->manage applications, touch Google Play Store (or Market, if you still have the old one) and then tap the "clear data" button (this will have you agree to terms again when you go back into the store) to see if this fixes it. If not, it may well be a temporary glitch that will go away soon.

One thing that used to work for me was to install an app from the market (any app), even if you will uninstall it later - at some point it syncs with Google and everything catches up. In any case, I would wait a full 24 hours before you decide to nuke and re-root.

And, of course, you can always reinstall older apps from a PC browser at https://play.google.com/store/apps

I did try all that.. nothing worked.. Guess I will wait and see what google has to say

Well, except the waiting 24 hours part...

Oh, one other thing to try - in settings->applications->manage applications->google play store, tap "uninstall updates" and see if things are back to normal. Of course, I think the stupid thing will automatically update again anyway, but at least you would see if it's a problem with the latest version of the play store.

What I found ... this when forcing Play Store to update on a Droid X ...

Settings | Applications | Manage applications | All | Google Play Store
Select Clear data

After exiting Play Store I did a reset/reboot
Hold down Volume Up/Volume Down/Power until the menu appears and disappears

Go back to Play Store

(Let us know if it works for you on the Bionic.)

the vol up down. piece.. what menu am I looking for? am I holding it during the Power on?

It is the Phone options menu. It is the same menu that appears if you hit the Power button to power off.

Hold down the Volume Up/Volume Down/Power buttons at the same time until the Phone options menu appears and then disappears.

When it disappears release all three buttons and you will see that it is rebooting.

This is the sames as a battery pull followed by a Power On.

For this particular case, a simple Power Off/Power On would probably be sufficient.

nope.. still nothing, this happened when I switch devices.. I doubt it is the device, has to be with Google. I was told by the person I talked to at Google yesterday that there was a Google Play update the night I swapped phones ah well, it works otherwise so no sense in trying to reset it anymore and now just deal with it

I was thinking maybe the rooting was causing it, but I have 2 other email accounts on the phone and when I select one of those for the 'My Apps' I see a subset of app that I have (has always been this way though for the the subset to show under another account)

When you are in Play Store (stupid name) select Menu | Settings and scroll to the bottom

Are you on 3.4.7? That is the latest version.

Update..

Still not working right.. I have not received an email from the Google Tech I have been emailing with since Thursday..

I might be swapping phones again though.. the Home back light is a 1/3 the brightness of the other 3 though

I've had the same problem since November 2011. I have tried everything without success. I think it has something to do with attaching apps to the market that came from either the Amazon app store or manually installed. You can use another Google account but that one is corrupted or blocked by Google. I still have not found a solution to this. I don't think it's the phone but the specific Google account.

I agree it is the account more then the phone..

But contacting Google helped until they stopped replying to me..

weird thing is if I reset (factory reset) the device, I see my apps list briefly but once Google Play updates I don't

on Google Play website under my account, it shows all the apps install or not. my big thing is updates

Is there another App I can install for tracking updates to apps? I know it is a band aid, but what really sucks is I swapped devices and this occurred.

Appbrain. Appbrain tracks versions and can let you know when there are updates. It still directs you to the play store app to install the updates, but that should still work.

Cool, That is what I have been using.. I heard that Go Launcher also has something like that too..

Is there a way to set-up Appbrain to actually notify me with a message in the status bar?
