My Battery Life Extended

Right. Just to let you know the latest progress report on that OboStore battery that I'm using now.

The battery is currently at 44% and my phone has been running now (since last charge) for 48hrs 19mins 13secs.

Now to recap, when I first received the battery it was at 60% and I charged it up to 100% straight away. Then after I unplugged it, it lasted about a day. Not good. In fact a lot worse than the standard HTC battery. So anyway. I recharged it then I began to watch the time again. The only problem was that a few hours later I had to transfer a load of pics off the phone through the usb lead, so of course it trickle-charged it while I was doing that. So, then I couldn't give you all a proper report on how long the original charge lasted. So I ran the battery down to around 10%. Then fully charged it again, now what I said at the beginning of this Post is what I currently have left. 44% after 2 whole days.

Usage has been a dozen or so pictures taken.
Loads of Facebook use.
Checking of emails once in a while.
Couple of short phone calls.
Installed a couple of Apps from the Android Store.

So, still going. I'll report back as soon as I get down to 15% and tell you how long I got out of that charge. Looking good for that OboStore battery anyway! :)

If you could give a complete guesstimation, how long would the stock battery last under the same sort of use?

Well, my original Post on this Thread I got 34 hours until I needed to re-charge, so I'm already way ahead of that. Of course, it does obviously depend on how you use your phone etc. But I haven't changed my 'habits' in any way. So all's good. (so far)

Well guys i really hope you are not disapointed with the new battery from obo store as my rep will be in bits if it turns out to be a pile of poop.
So please give it a chance and do at least 7 full cycles.
Intrestingly i chanced back to my stock htc battery just for a reminder of the differance and for me what a differance.
I know on obostore website a couple of pepole complined that there battery never turned up but to be fair it is coming from china in a tiny packet and working in the mail industry the smaller the packet the more chances it can end up going in the wrong mail tin and then off to tim buk tu. !

Right. As promised here I am with my final report on the OboStore battery.

After my latest 'charge' (from 10%), my phone has lasted 69 hours with 15% battery charge left. That's nearly THREE WHOLE DAYS without being charged! Average use. Mostly Facebook and Email access through WiFi. With a few calls and pics being taken with the phones 8mp camera.

I am quite chuffed with what I have accomplished, considering that when I first received the phone it lasted (with the original battery and no tweaking etc) about 6 hrs!!

Well pleased.

So for me, I personally can vouch for those OboStore batteries. The ONLY down side was the 2-3 week wait for delivery, but I can accept that.
:D

That's great news I'm well happy for you and hopefully the results for other people will be in soon and also prove to be good for them and show that us mear mortals get it right sometimes not mentioning any names or other forums who cast dowt and be negative about the hole thing .

Also makes me wonder if things will be even better with that Gingerbread update? We shall see.

I don't care what anyone says. This phone is awesome, and I for one have not looked back! :)

Your so right the about the DHD in my mind is the best phone i have ever owned and is even better than an iphone in many respects to many to metion.
From what i understand each network has variable limits set on power management with gingerbread so hopefully this can be exploited by some cleaver bloke over at xda.
but the standard update of gingerbread will make a real differance on the battery run time not to mention cpu performance increase.

Ah, ok, there are 2 methods, apologies I was getting confused :o.

The method I've used previously has been -

1. Charge the battery whilst the handset is on until it reads 100%. Leave it on charge for half an hour or so once the light turns green.
2. Turn the handset off, take the battery out, then put it back in.
3. Plug the charger in until the light turns green.
4. Once green, unplug, wait a min or so, put the charger back in (the charging light should be orange), take out once the charging light is green again.
5. Repeat until the charging light is green as soon as you put the charger in. (could take an hour or so).

Does this just make the battery last longer on a charge? Should I do this every time, or just once? I was doing it today, but I only did it until green light came on after about a minute and then had to leave, so I couldn't keep going.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but if i take my battery out at say 90% and then put it back in and turn my phone back on it then reads around 96%. Why is that?

I don't get you guys. You buy these smart phones because of all of the features and technology that's been built into the device, yet you turn everything off and never experience it fully! Don't get me wrong, I certainly agree that the battery life is pretty depressing, but I'm never too far from my laptop/PC or a plug socket and have no problem using the phone while it's plugged in. This is by far the best device available IMO (obviously until the sensation is out on more carriers:-D ( I WANT ONE!!!)) and it should be used to the max, not restricted so it doesn't have to be plugged in for a few more hours a day.

I mean absolutely no offence to anyone, we are all entitled to do what we choose with our devices, I just wanted to make a point. At the end of the day, we all know this phone is FREAKING AWESOME!

I personally use just about every feature that the phone offers, I just don't have them all on at once, only when I need them. It makes the most of the phone, without killing my battery go a few hours.

Edit: Can someone tell me the best way to condition my battery? Should I be draining it to 0% and then charging to full?
