Help My Battery...

So this is my first post, and I need help. Lol. DONT JUDGE ME.

I have been reading around several different forums, and in the process of learning about my new evo, and acquiring "rooting" information I've stumbled upon various battery life threads. It seems like everybody, even the help requesters are getting better battery life compared to my evo. The EVO that I bought less than a week ago.. I haven't even had time to push this thing hard.

Somebody mentioned something, somewhere, about "Settings-About Phone-Battery-Awake time" and they said the awake time shouldn't be constant with the up time. My awake time is running smoothly with whatever the up time is.

At the moment
Code:
Up time: 2:02:17++
Awake Time: 2:02:17++

Another thing I have suspicions about are the constant unwanted and unused apps running. Most of the apps are ones that I've never ran before and frequently show up on my Advanced Task Killer. During the day, even after force closing, they reappear while my phone is in my pocket draining my battery.
While making this post, I rebooted my phone and as soon as my UI was done settling I opened the advanced task killer app finding the usual unused, battery draining apps.

They include
Code:
footprints
heytell
sprint navigation
sprint football life
sprint zone
voice dialer
FM radio
nascar
nova
stocks
qik

Is there a reason they keep restarting in the foreground without my consent? Is there a way to fix it, I would assume blocking some of the processes without user permission would help save my battery.

HALP.

I can't answer you question, but I strongly suggest you uninstall any "task killer/manger" you have. That alone is draining your battery as it's on all the time.

@SoulStrike - define bad battery life... how many hours is it lasting? Of these hours, how many hours are you actually using it? What are you using it for? (approx how many minutes are you talking, how many minutes are you texting, how many minutes are you browsing, how many minutes are you playing games etc...)

Also, do you have 4G radio enabled or disabled? And assuming you don't use googletalk, did you close out googletalk completely? (these two were the biggest battery hogs for me) Turning these two off got my EVO (stock battery) to last me till the end of day. Personally, I prefer not worrying about my battery, so I picked up an extended battery (Sprint 2600mAH) - now, I recharge every third day (when my battery reaches about 40-50% level). I still leave 4G off and googletalk disabled, but everything else is enabled.

And to restate what KENNECTED said, I would recommend getting rid of task killers - it doesn't really help you by killing apps. Android 2.2 is pretty good at managing memory.
