Help My Droid locked up on me today!

Has anyone accidently called someone and your trying to do whatever to stop the call from ringing? This happened today when I was scrolling through my contact list and accidently tapped the wrong contact and it started the call. Then my screen went black and I couldn't get back to my call screen to hit the end button. I tried everything to end the call and then my phone completely locked up. I had to eventually power the whole phone off and power back up then it was back to normal. It annoys me how I don't have any control over ending a call that was accidently placed. Then for the phone to lock up really ticked me off.

Has happened to me but I usually just wait for the call screen to come up and hit the end button.

This has happened to me several times. I continue to have problems with the screen just suddenly going blank, periodically. Appz? Known issue?

The only thing I would say is make sure you are not holding the phone close to the left side of the earpiece. This is where the proximity sensor is located... even if you get your finger close to this area while on a call, the screen will go blank and will not respond until it "sees" clearly.

Hope that helps...

I'll be damned, at least for the most part, that's exactly the problem. I'm still trying to figure out precisely where the sensor is you describe but I'm sure I will. I don't know if there is also a minor app issue that needs to be uninstalled but definitely most of it just related to the way I hold the phone in my hand when I call. I've tried several times both ways and it is repeatable every time. Thanks a lot.

If you get close to the left edge of the speaker grill ... the proximity sensor will activate.

I had a bone head moment when trying to multi-task.. as the phone app background service is what controls the proximity sensor.. even with the call activity not on screen it'll still blank the screen.

I kept trying to swipe the notification panel, and everytime my thumb got to the top of the screen, the screen was turning off :)

Took me a few tries to realize what the heck was going on, and I eventually changed to swiping the notification area near the time, which got me where I wanted to go...

I think sensor is the issue to lock the phone. I set alarm for 6:30 am and when try to turn off alarm, my phone act like lock. At that time I didn't understand what happen. But now I understand after reading all above posts. All lights were off in my room and phone was not plugged on charger. Thats totally make sense to me.
