My experience with Verizon's Holster

Just wanted to share my experience with the Verizon's case and holster.

I have always used Verizon's holster in the past as, for me, it served two purposes by offering shell protection and being able to clip it on to my belt. The case and holster would go on either Friday evenings or Saturday mornings and stay on until either Sunday night or Monday morning - I always carried the previous phones naked while at work.

I picked up the holster for the N3 and have had it on since Saturday afternoon.

This morning, I started to take off the case and realized that the case was far more snug than on my previous phones. It started to take a considerable amount of effort and just wouldn't give even the slightest bit. So, I put it down while getting ready for work and attempted to take it off again. Now I'm a pretty cautious person when it comes to my toys - especially a new one. This time I tried several angles and when it finally did come off, it ripped off the volume rocker and broke off a bit of the outside plastic housing surrounding the volume rocker. Needless to say, I wasn't happy with the situation nor myself. I could only raise the volume up as the rocker was dangling about a quarter of an inch away from the phone. Once the volume indicator came up on the screen, I could lower it if I wanted to. However, at some point in the very near future, it would have totally dropped off.

I went to the closest VZW store and they would not do much about it - I did not purchase insurance as I have automatic purchase protection via my credit card.

Long story short(er), the phone is on it's way to Samsung's phone hospital in Texas to be either repaired or replaced. Am back to using the Nexus until it returns.

So, for those who have the holster or are thinking of getting one, please be a little careful while using it. Of course, you might have way better luck than I as YMMV.

You mention the S3, but did you mean Note 3? I'm really confused lol

Assuming you meant the Note 3, was it this one?

NP shutterman!!! So, it is indeed the same as the one I posted above? I only ask because my mom wants that holster a lot and is going to be very sad lol

Yes, it is this holster. If your mother will be leaving this on permanently, then it might be ok. If, however, it will be removed/installed frequently, then you might want to be more cautious than I was. I never had any problem with the previous phones I had the holster for, only this one - and that too on the very first try I tried to remove it.

I also tried this holster and had great difficulty taking the clamshell off which gives no protection to the top and bottom edges, both open. I also found it to slippery to hold for long periods. When I went to remove it I could not. I finally ended up with it in my lap one hand pushing on the camera and the other attempting to depress the volume rocker and at the same time pealing that corner. More & more pressure on all those points and it finally exploded apart! Lucky no damage but I'll never put that on again.

So I put the rubber ducky case on (nice easy fit, might work with wireless charging cover, waiting for n3 de to find out) and it works in the holster receiver! So two cases to make one. I love the rubber ducky case, it's cheaper, indestructible, actually protects the phone and it's sticky enough to stay in my hand with a light grip and is easily propped up with something on a smooth surface like a table or my leather/vinyl reclining chair!

When it comes to Holsters there is only one brand I rely on, which happens to be Seidio. I have been using the brand since the Palm Treo devices which for those that remember had stylus's too, long before Samsung did. Anyhow, these holsters rotate, they don't break or snap when you climb in and out of a vehicle nor do they press uncomfortable on the belt loop or cause the device to pop-off randomly. I found the best success from the simplest versions which the Spring Clip has done well for me.

Here is the catalog link, I am still waiting to see their batteries as they are usually the most impressive that fit extend and still fit behind the stock cover.
