Help MY FILES UTTERLY VANISHED.

I would think that your best option at this point would be to seek professional help. Keep in mind that every write your phone as done has likely filled the voids created by the removed files. Every write is destroying your lost data. Complete recovery is far from likely. The expense of professional help is something you will have to weigh. I'm sure sorry that you suffered the loss. I corrupted a SD card once and lost precious photos. I'm still sad about it years removed. A lesson was learned however and I now have a cloud service in place to backup all photos. Best of luck to you.

Thank you, and thanks everyone else for the help.

I have resigned to the fact that my files are gone. I am mainly upset about my deleted videos, photos and books, but fortunately, my books were backed up. The most frustrating thing about this is ALLL WEEEEEEK I had this strange urge to back up my photos!!! I usually rename my photos rather than keeping the random file names assigned by the phone. But earlier this week, I was thinking to myself, "maybe I should just upload them without giving them fancy new file names". But another voice said "No, don't be lazy. Rename them all, THEN back them up". Too bad I listened to the second voice...

Maybe this is a lesson that will save me from a much worse loss in the future.

Not sure where your data is. Windows is not an OS I use so no help there but to maybe help in the future I would Highly Recommend an app like Airdroid This uses WIFI to transfer files between phone and computer. All you need is the app on your phone and a web browser. I've been using it for a few years now and it has never left me with an issue. As far as getting your data back If its not on the phone it may not come back. You can try one of the undelete apps from the play store and see if they can restore your data back on your phone. As far as the email thing I have never seen what you are describing so no idea

The Windows OS stores data usually in these two folders:

C:\Users\YourName\.....
at this point, there is a lot of folders to choose from
Now this is for DATA that you save on purpose, and some where the app defaults to that path.

You can also find data stashed into folders that don't make it to your own \YourName\... folder,
those are in C:\Users\...... and here, it is a very arduous search.

IF, there is a chance you know part of the name of the file(s), you can install Google Desktop Search and allow it to catalog the entire drive for you.

Or, you can just simply go to the top right corner of the Windows File explorer and type in a part of the name in that search bar. This is a "Real Time" search and it is extremely slow.... as it must start at the root folder C:\ and catalog everything it sees, and then start searching the sub-folders.
