My friends issue with a VZW rep...

My friend went into the Verizon store today to ask about the Droid X and the upgrade thing. He is currently using a Blackberry Storm and his contract ends in August. The VZW Rep then told him that he was ineligible for the early update because he is already using a smart phone...is this right? I thought it was for anyone whose contract ends this year and wants to get the X.
 
Yeah I think it's BS to, they stated that anyone eligible for an upgrade any time this year could early upgrade to the Droid X. Sounds like the Rep didn't know what he was talking about or just being an ass.

Here is the problem, there are two different upgrades that are going on at Verizon. One of them is currently going on and is for non smart phone users that allows them to upgrade to a smart phone. Contract has to end this year.

Then there is the one where anyone can upgrade if their contract ends this year for the Droid X. This one might not be in effect until the actual phone is out.
 
If his contract ends this year he prolly can get the yearly discount which is 200 for the x
 
I switched to VZW but I am using a borrowed BB Pearl and I am eligible to upgrade to the X. Different situation of course but I have a BB smartphone plan.
