Help My HTC Evo 3D is recieving texts late!

About 3 months ago I got a new phone (HTC Evo 3D). Its been running good and smoothly for a few weeks. But then I noticed that I can send texts, but when someone texts me back it takes at least 2 - 10 mintes to reach my phone. Usually when I recieve a text, a whole bunch of them pop up and they were the ones that should've came to my phone earlier. I am currently using a messaging app called "Handcent". I don't know if its my network or my phone causing it to do that. 2 months ago I called Sprint and they told me to update my phone, and reset it to the factory settings. But that didn't fix the problem. They told me that they made a ticket to take my phone to a near Sprint repair store. So I did that, and they said that they went into my phone and fixed it. Its been 3 months I am still recieving texts not on time, and it is really frustrating! I sometimes cant receive calls when someone calls me. I tried new messeging apps, that didn't work. Everyday I consatntly update my profile and the PRL, that didn't help. So I am out of options of what I can do. Is there anything else I can try? What do you think is causing it?

hows your signal strength on a normal basis? A lot of people use Handcent(including myself) and this is only an issue to me when my signal is spotty.

Often times I use my phone in my room (I usually get 1 -2 bars). But usually when I use it in my room it switches to data roaming. I also use my phone outside and I get about 3 - 5 bars.

Nope, I believe it is a Sprint issue and related to the location where you live, I have also had this spotty issue sometimes and always comes back to signal and roaming, when I am in a good area with strong signal and not roaming I have no issues. I have tested this issue many times with a buddy of mine, I would call him on a landline and we would text back and forth to test, and there was much delay on both ends. We are both on Sprint, so I believe it is Sprint and the location along with signal and roaming. Just something you will have to deal with.

This will all probably be solved when Sprint switches to 4GLTE...hopefully

XD :P Funniest thing I've heard all day

Is there anything I can do?

If I was having low connection issues at my house I would ask Sprint for an Airrave/Airvana signal booster. Occasionally it can add even more issues to signal problems and text messaging, but it might be worth a query.

Also if you are within 30 days purchase with Sprint, you could always return it and try a different phone. The Motorola Photon, I have read from alot of ex Evo 4G owners, has a really good radio in it that connects better than the Evo 4G and Evo 3D did (or at least it displays more bars - could be subjective). Not trying to steer you away from the Evo family, just something to take into consideration. since you were asking for options.

I dunno...I live near Los Angeles so I've never had any real issues with signal strength and I even get 4G WiMax pretty much everywhere, and LTE speeds and signal around here are even better...

Why do you say that? Why so funny?

Probably has something to do with the expectation of something getting fixed by switching to LTE. But I think a lot will be fixed when Sprint stops using Clearwire as an ISP for their mobile broadband carrier.

Columbus Ohio with the same problem. A few month's ago texts were arriving over a day late. It got better but my son just responded to a text I sent yesterday today.

I know there's a a lot of people having the same problem. But I expected more out of Sprint from switching from T-mobile. I hope there is a solution to the problem, then waiting for one.

Ok, well, it is true that simply upgrading to LTE may not improve this problem.

However, Sprint's Network Vision upgrade includes much more than simply the addition of LTE. The new tower engineering/design will improve signal strength as a whole as Network Vision is deployed. Additionally, in the future, the use of the 800mhz frequency will even further improve signal strength.

Yeah same problem here EVO 3d and my good friend is having the same exact problem receiving texts late as ever with her original 4g EVO it happens every so.many months and it usually fixes itself.. but not yet this time :( Erie pa! :( :( :( :(

I rarely have a problem with text messages arriving. It has happened maybe once since I picked up the Evo 3D in June. But I use Google Voice with Sprint integration. VoIP is awesome :) Although I have no MMS or group SMS capabilities. But those are two features I only use once in a great while, and the normal messenger works for that.

I had this problem a couple of months ago. I'm close to a tower and usually get 4 - 5 bars all day long. Well, for about a month or so random times throughout the day one of my texts would not be delivered. Then about 2 -3 days later the person would get the text. So if more than one text during the conversation never made it through, that person would get a those texts all at once. I had no problem at all receiving texts and it didn't matter what carrier I sent the texts to or where they were located. But I contacted sprint and after determining it was my phone or app, I use Handcent, it was the sprint system. They gave me a $25 credit and I was told someone was going to the tower in my area and they would contact me with the outcome. Well they did contact me back, but no one went to the tower and they tried telling me they couldn't find any problem. They gave me another credit of $50 for the service issue. Then all of the sudden it stopped. I never did get an explanation as to what caused the issue but obviously it was a Sprint problem.

I have experienced similar issues; here's a twist: If I don't send a text without an attached photo to users of Straight Talk, it won't go through. Also, it seems that I have suffered many of the same complaints, as an EVO 3D user. And, having Sprint as a carrier has much to do about it.

My Wife and I both have Evo3Ds. We love our phones.

Lately my Wife has been unable to send or receive text messages. When she does get them the arrive hours late and often all at the same time (late at night).

My phone seems to be working fine but hers is still having issues. We called Sprint and they reset her radios and re-activated her phone but the issue persists. I also updated the PRL/Profile multiple times. No luck.

We are switching carriers soon so I'd like to be able to fix this without too much trouble.

Any ideas? I'm out of ideas except for a factory restore :(

Thank you.

Yes, the stock app. She gets an Error Code. (Don't recall the number). As I said, my Evo3D texts fine. No idea what is going on with hers =\

Have you looked up the number on the web?

You could also try to clear the app data for the stock app via app settings. Be aware though this reverts all settings of that app to its defaults and also deletes saved messages...
