my new project-Aquarium keeping part 2

How many acres do you have to work with @ocnbrze?
LOL i just need space for a long and wide tank. it does not need to be tall. so i'm looking at 180 to 200 gallons. the tank would be 72" (L)x 36" (W) x 18" (H) = 200 gallons

its just a thought right now. thinking about putting it in the family room which is in the front of my house.

its just a thought right now. first i need to finish this last project, before i can even go forward for the next one.....that is IF there is a next one.

ok i'm an idiot. i bought the wrong size plumbing part. unfortunately none of the plumbing stores or home depot has it.....so now i have to order it and plumb the tank next weekend........:maddroid::maddroid::maddroid::maddroid:

ok some huge updates.......the tank is filled with saltwater and i have some fish.......so the tank is now officially up and running!!!!!!!

not without issues. so i had a leak up near where my overflow box was. it was not a bad leak, but the leak somehow made its way underneath the paint on the back of the tank so that the paint was lifting off of the glass. i painted where i could. and it turned out to be ok. there are some spots still lifting off, but with the water in the tank, you hardly notice it. plus coralline algae will eventually will grow on the back so you will not see it really......that is if i want it to grow or not.

coralline algae is not really algae per se. it uses calcium and makes this beautiful purple color as it grows. it looks pretty cool, but i do like the crisp clean black look that it has right now.....so we will see.

i'm gonna cleanup some stuff and i'll post pictures of the tank and how the plumbing looks tomorrow.

I GOT MY TANK!!!!!!!!!!!

That's freaking nice @ocnbrze :) , I've been absent a little while and just getting back into the SF as of recent ,off and on so to speak. Just catching up on things.

ok so here are some very late photos of the Beast which is the name of my tank.

and yes that is a Samsung Galaxy Tab S2, the Nook edition. the battery life sucks so i keep it plugged in all the time and thought this will make a perfect device to control my lights and filtration.

i was going to take some pics with some of the fish i added, but the tank is going thru the ugly phase of being a new tank. its ugly because the flora and fauna of a new tank takes awhile to grow and settle in.....and i'm not talking about fish. the flora and fauna i'm talking about are the bacteria and algae that will ultimately make up an established tank. i have enough nitrifying bacteria to keep the tank filtered, but i do not have enough algae to keep everything under control.

what do i mean? well right now i am having an outbreak of dinoflagellates. i'll post pics of it later today maybe.

right now i have 5 yellow belly damsels and i just ordered a pair of black storm clownfish:

when i get the clowns in, i'll try and post a video showing them off as sometimes fish are hard to photograph, especially in a deep tank like mine is.
