Help My Note II's Battery Life Has Decreased From 16 Hours to 8 Hours Only

So I've been this phone for about 3 weeks now. I love everything about it but the battery life sucks.. I've only used android since I bought my Note II. I caught up with how android works right now but I don't know what apps are draining my battery life. It used to run around 16 hours then it only lasted for 16 hours now. I charged it properly all the time. So I think it's an app who's draining the battery. Btw I end every app on the task manager to help. I've tried juice defender.. and nothing happened -.-

Could you do us a favor and post some screenshots of your battery stats? Would be a lot easier to help you with those.

Since the op hasn't responded I will hijack.

I'm also experiencing decreased battery life. Fyi I have an external battery and charger so I usually do not have the phone plugged in. I thought it would be better to get a full charge on the battery without simultaneously discharging, but obviously something isnt working.

^ That one is pretty obvious. Somewhere around 10 hrs after you took it off the charger, something kept your phone awake for about 4-5 hours. I'm going to guess it was the play store automatically updating apps while you thought the phone was idle. Set it to only do this over wifi, and you shouldn't have this problem again.

I use GSam to monitor my battery use. It let's you see how much battery apps are using. It's in the Play Store.

Thanks for the input! I ended up turning off auto update all together. We will see how that affects things.

I recently noticed a lot of 17 hr running processes when I went to application manager. I'm going to trim down the apps that I have downloaded, but I wanted to know if there is an app to manage background processes?

Definitely turn off auto update on apps. I found that only about 10% of the app updates will make a positive impact on you. About 80% of the updates are on stuff that you don't really care about or completely unrelated to your device. The rest of the 10% will actually made negative impacts with the update.

how do you turn off the auto-update? do you have to do it individually on apps or is there a overall setting?

I have seen a couple others talk about their battery life decreasing the longer they have owned the phone. I sure hope this isn't the case because that will make me regret my purchase. One of the main reasons I went back to get the Note 2 was its amazing battery life.

I've had mine for 3 weeks now and have had all my apps installed since the day i bought it and my battery life is still amazing. I haven't noticed it getting worse.

This! I've been using ingress a LOT and it's a battery hog :D:D

Otherwise, use the tools like gsam and cpuspy to try to help isolate, prob a weird app, but it could also report into android os or something else like media server.

Worst case, Factory Reset and install apps 1 by 1.

I noticed my battery went down faster than usual today. I looked at the apps via GSam and found Amazon App store had used 33.3% of my battery! I hadn't even used that app today and only have a couple apps installed from there.

Uninstall it! I got hooked on the free apps through their store, but nothing but trouble since. Stick to the play store!

Ingress is stealing all of my battery!

Well, the problem with that is that one of the apps I got there is Tapatalk. I'd have to buy it from the Play Store if I got rid of Amazon. I'll just keep an eye on it for now. They were having some really good apps for free for a while, but now it's all games and 99 cent stupid stuff.

Wow.

You can't install it then uninstall the "other" store?

I ran down to about 70% after playing ingress on foot a lot tonight... 8:30 to 11pm, that's heavy GPS and data, and lots of on screen controls and constant screen ON TIME. To me, that's amazing.

A razr HD would have been about 40% here.

If the game were on an iphone5, I would have been done before we were done, but it's not ported there, doubt it will ever be ported there since niantic labs is owned by google.

Ingress consumes a LOT of resources.

Turn off auto updates in the settings for the amazon app store. I have it installed and have gotten so many great free apps from that deal and never have a problem with it.

Get this app. It does really work on galaxy note 2. It is called DeepSleep Battery Saver in Google play store.

I'm gonna try this at night, before I go to sleep, but I'll have to actually sit down and be able to figure out the personal configurations, so that I won't have to enable/disable it. I like the concept of deep sleep turning off data while I'm sleeping, but during the day, I can't have my phone not automatically pushing my work emails to me. In the event that I'm not at my desk, I need to be accessible via email all the time.

Hopefully the settings aren't too complicated to make sure it suits all my most important needs during the day and at night.

I decided to buy Tapatalk again via the Play Store and get rid of Amazon Market. I found it sucking down my battery again.
