My phone is a mess

So can anyone tell me things that need to be on my sd card? I feel like my phone is just so messy. Maybe, making it run slower?? I am a neat freak.

I hate to walk in your room...ha ha ha

On another note I'm using wireless tether right now..

it's pretty damn fast..

kh, what kind of stuff are you seeing? A quick stroll through my sd reveals the following:

alarms
albumthumbs
backgrounds
backups
cache
data
dcim
download
downloads (these two bug me, but I haven't looked into where they come from)
espeak-data
handcent
mabilo (what?! I don't use this app, *delete*)
music
nandroid
notifications
ringtones
rom (for nesoid)
rosie_scroll
steel (removing this app tonight)
thumbs
tmp
video
bookmarks.json
dolphinbrowser_gestures
recovery-RA-heroc-v1.5.2.img

What bothers me is the duplicate folders in the Albums ares on the phone... So I clean it up every now and then.

Technically nothing needs to be on the SD card. Certain apps store data on the SD card it would be *nice* if they all shoved their data inside of data/ directory but they don't. A lot of apps don't remove their directories after you remove the app either.

Best advice I have for you is to dig through it. Delete the directories that belong to apps you no longer use. You can also organize photos, music, videos and documents however you like.

So, Kenny... If I were to nest my sounds (ringer, notification and alarm folders), images, videos and music under data, do you think it would still show up in the appropriate lists in the phone?

I may hafta try that.

Is there and suggested directory structure for things ?

out of habit I made a /ringtones and another folder but stuffed my phone ID pics in the camera folder, I think I want to change that to /CalledID

Thanks guys. I cleaned it up a little last night ;) Then were a bunch of folders with nothing in them, so I just got rid of em.

Well I am not sure on the rintones side of things because I have always kept them nested under /media/audo/

However I do have a folder in my root directory that says "Pictures" and inside of it I have subfolders. The phone recognizes these subfolders as albums. Same thing goes for music and video. I have one "Video" folder where I have subfolders called movies, tvshows, etc. I actually have a Podcast directory and music directory, and the default music player sees it all.

Try out different things and see if it works.
