Help My phone laughs and mocks my efforts during a call

When I am on a call and need to use my phone keypad for entering in numbers and such, I am in a constant struggle with the screen turning off and on. I will wait for it to turn on, then I try to press the correct button very fast before it turns off.

If I need to enter a long series of numbers, such as a credit card, it is very frustrating. Sometimes simple things like turning off the mute button perplex me. I thought it has to do with movement or the angle I hold the phone

yes of course. this does nothing, as it shuts on and off within seconds. On a call for example it can do this 10-15 times in 1 minute

Turn on speakerphone and it works great. That disables the sensor used to shut the screen off when the phone is held next to the ear.

I'm guessing you're having issues with the proximity sensor. You can try something like this to see it if helps (I'm not endorsing that particular app. It's just what came up on a google search).

OMG, i dealt with this issue since i got this phone and Euph_22 you solved this mystery for me! I didnt even know there WAS a proximity sensor, but that app helped me see immediately. Because of the way i hold my phone, (in my left hand) i was constantly passing my hand over the sensor while pressing buttons with my right hand. This turns the screen off. As son as i moved, the screen turned on.

SOLVED! THANKSYOU!!!

I'm wondering if there's an app or a setting somewhere that brings up the dial pad as soon as you make/receive a call. It's rather annoying when you hit a voice prompt that wants you to enter a number, then you have to hit the button to bring up the dial pad, and then by the time you get around to pressing a number, the voice prompt gets pissed because you haven't pressed anything yet.
