Root My phone makes the notification sound even when silent...

So I'm listening to music and I get a message and the notification sound is produced. Why is this? Is there a fix?


Note : I have my headphones on with music playing on silent mode (meaning ringer is off including notifications )
 
I was wondering about that earlier today. I have the same issue, and I have no idea how to fix that. the only way I know of is to try a new ROM like cyanogenmod. you could also try deleting the notification sound file, but I don't know if that would work or where it's located.
