Root My phone stopped connecting to ATTs data network

I'm running Serendipity 6.2 and so far it has been great until this morning. I wake up and my phone is off (again). If it isn't plugged in, it turns off by itself 1/3 of the time. Anyways, I wake up and my phone is dead so I plug it in. It fires up fine but oddly enough the little "H" is a no go. Also, it didn't connect to my home network. I had some things to take care of so I haven't really bothered with it until a few minutes ago when I noticed that it still hasn't come back up. I've tried looking it up and haven't come up with anything definitive. It gets texts and takes/makes with no problems as far as I can tell. Any ideas?

I went into settings>Mobile networks and then checked "use packet data" and it seemed to alleviate all the problems. Could this have been turned off on accident? It said I may incur additional charges but isn't that normally enabled?
