Root My phone WILL NOT root! Help!

I have been trying since this morning to root my EVO with no luck. Once I open unrevoked it just says waiting for device. I have tried everything. I have selected debug, unknown sources, charge only, I tried it with disk drive, I enabled root user on my mac, I have formatted SD card, reformatted phone and it just will not recognize my phone. I have tried different usb slots, a different cable and nothing. The computer will recognize the phone by itself with disk drive, but nothing with unrevoked. Any help is appreciated!!!

I wonder if you need to install HTC Sync first to setup your phone which will install needed drivers. You'll then have to uninstall HTC Sync as well as disable any virus software. Try that and see if it helps.

Even for a mac? I was under the impression a mac didn't need any drivers??

Oops...somehow I missed that you said that. You're right though about the drivers. Wish I could be of more help but not sure about Macs.

Well I just decided to pull out my old HP and got rooted in under 10 minutes. Windows FTW! haha

Keep checking this thread though because I'm sure someone smarter than I will post eventually. They're kinda slow tonight. Also, you may want to post this over at XDA and see if you get any hits.

Well I just decided to pull out my old HP and got rooted in under 10 minutes. Windows FTW! haha

Glad you got it. I don't know of many that use a mac let alone have rooted with a mac so I would be lost on this one. Windows seems to be the more common machine to root them on.
