Another legitimate reason to want Froyo is the negative affect remaining on Eclaire will ultimately have on this community. The invaluable devs, forum support, etc. will all soon disappear. They will move on to devices that are current.
Why continue development on outdated Eclaire? 2.3 is here, 2.4 is rumored for Q1 of 2011. In a few short months we will be on one of the most antiquated platforms on the market. It is a travesty considering the hardware.
The only available rumors have come from Samsung. Those don't even matter. It's Verizon that makes the final call. I have yet to read/hear a peep out of the Verizon camp. There is chatter that the OTA is in testing. That could take weeks, months.
My high school daughter has been running 2.2.1 for a couple of weeks already on her D1. Very disturbing...

Well, I called it. Geeknik's the first to move on. Others will follow. Sucks
Geeknik's StupidFast Kernel for the Samsung Fascinate
"I hate to say it, but I'm leaving the Samsung Fascinate. So I won't be continuing the development of this kernel. And as of 27 December 2010, I won't have access to a Fascinate any more, so I won't be able to support this kernel or troubleshoot any issues as well. Thank you all for your support, hopefully we'll all be running the same device again in the future. =) "

(especially those in the aosp realm)
It's hilarious that something good may have come from that ridiculous thread.and i think on the balance sheet punk kaos getting a fascinate and geeknik leaving may balance out![]()

With jt on the Gingerbread SGS team (he's credited on the Captivate version, heh), I'm not that worried for the future.
