Help My Rezound has pink buttons.

They'll probably send you a refurb. Verizon's refurb process is somewhat hellish to say the least. As far as HTC, they can help as well, but they won't send you a replacement phone until they get yours or you put down a deposit in the amount of the phone first.

i got my rezound from the corp store. cant i just go in, show them the buttons that they are defective and then they just replace it with one that had "Red" buttons? I'm not trying to be picky but if I'm paying 300 for a phone I want it to be perfect. Everything on my Rezound is so far except the buttons. It looks pink to me to others it looks a little washed out.

has anyone actually took the rezound back to vzw and get a new one that had red buttons?

You can try, but if you get an associate like the ones I got below, good luck.

The last time I went to a Verizon store it was because my Thunderbolt refurb had a lifted screen. Everyone at the store claimed the phone's screen was fine. Since then I've just decided to speak directly to Customer Service.

Make sure you explain to them that it's less than 14 days old or else they'll try to send you a refurb. If it's a few days over 14 days then ask them if they can make an exception for you. They tend to be sticklers about the 14 days.

Greetings neeb rezound user with a quick question I just rece
ived my replacement rezound yesterday and although the screen isn't going out on this unit it has the same light leak my 1st had with the additional pink buttons this time. Not sure if I want to put in another warranty claim, is there anyway to fix or change the colors. Have read abut a few actually changing the lights not sure how doe, thanks

I got a GNEX right before Christmas and was told I had until Jan 15th to exchange. I made the exchange a few days ago. I'm still under that 14 days policy, right?

I will not take NO for answer from them, I love the phone but the pink buttons make me feel like I was cheated out of a good phone. Are they able to open every box until they find one that works, lol? Say the activate a new one there for me and it still has the pink buttons, do they just give me another one? I dont know how to go about this at all?

Find someone with red buttons and have them go into the Verizon store with you, or compare it to the floor model. Also, one thing someone suggested is the pink buttons are typically accompanied by "light leak" near the bottom of the trim on the phone screen so if they don't think the color is a big deal, look for light leakage on the phone that's generally a quality issue that they should be ok with covering.

I noticed the light leakage right off the bat..and also have the pink tint. So your saying there's rezounds out there that dont have the light leakage(easily seen when lookin from the top of the phone). Honestly I'd feel like a a**hole returning my phone because of the pink tint though if the light leakage isn't normal and is a quality issue, I would reconsider.

Yea my first rezound had no problems what so ever ,no leak no buttons etc, unfortunately I had exchanged it for a galaxy nexus. Wasn't really looking to trade it in again regardless of the light leak but really was curious if there was a quick fix

It might be related. I can only base it on my phone, which actually has some light leakage and I'd say it's not exactly pink. You can tell them that you're returning it because it has light leakage, which may be easier for you than to say, "My buttons are pink". Oh and if you're discussing your phone with a female rep, don't just blurt out, "My buttons are pink" else you could get slapped....

lol yeah ill say light leakage and if they ask well what does that mean ill say the buttons should be red not pink and ill tell them that i compared my phone with a rezound from another store. they have to honor it right?

Be advised that all those turning in pink-buttoned Rezounds are now being furnished with this replacement phone:

I wouldn't trust Verizon to honor anything to be quite honest. You could call in tech support, but if your luck is anything like mine, you'll get some rube that wants to troubleshoot your "pink buttons" via "Ok lets pull the battery out of the phone and press the pink power ranger button".....

i had my gf go in today, i thought maybe they would go easier on a female no luck.

they "looked" at the demo unit and it had pinkish buttons so they said thats how it is, that it looks different to each person, lol. they told her they went into the back and checked out another rezound too and it was also the same color but they didnt show it in front of her.

the one rep even said that they had to activate the phone to see the buttons light up lol. i told them that all you had to do was put your hand over the ear piece to get the lights to come on. they tried to play me.

so i dont know what to do. i guess ill try calling vzw tomorrow instead of going into the store. but i dont know how i can get a "proper" rezound when the demo unit has pink buttons too?

That's the rub, finding a unit that has actual red buttons to compare.

Pink buttons on rezound - HTC Rezound? (Verizon) - Android Forums - HTC Community

Here are some images from Google for comparison.

For the record, mine looks like the 3rd one (the "more red" one) but then again, I'd say I'm a manly-man so that's to be expected. ;) I think Chuck Norris's Rezound is the only one that has a more manly red. Of course I can't confirm it because it's such a manly red that if you look directly at it you'll go blind....

I appreciate the humor, LOL, your actually cheering me up! This is the red I'm talking about:

That should be all of our phones. Mine is more like the 4th picture from BGR. I made another post hopefully when I call VZW tomorrow they can actually do something about this. I just don't know why this is such a pet peeve to me? Maybe b/c of the $600 price tag.

That's actually a very dim looking red IMO. Mine's a little brighter than that red. Also, if you noticed the red you posted was a dark pic and the actual subject (the screens themselves) is brighter than the image. I checked the settings to see if you could dial down the brightness of the buttons, but it only works on the screen brightness. It would be nice to dim down the buttons when you don't need them so bright (like watching a movie). Maybe someone will find a way to do it via root.

Ok we can rip it apart and put in some fancy cool blue LEDs! With the red overlay it'll look like.... fuschia!! :)

i said fuschia just to annoy TxGoat ha ha :)

ok ok fine... they use white LEDs in there for the 4 buttons (view from the top side of the touchscreen/LCD downwards). So.... it may look a little lighter than red :)

bye

I went to a Verizon store about 40 minutes from my house, had a doctor appt out that way. They had 2 rezounds on display one in the front and one hidden in the back. The front one was pink and the CSR said it was normal so I knew he was bullshitting me. I kept looking around and i found another one in the back that was red or better than what my phone was. I was so pumped bc I thought i was going insane for the past week. I went back to the greeter and told him that my phone is defected. He took me to another csr and they thought i was crazy. They did admit my phone was pink. So after a half hour of them trying to act smart, resetting my phone lol. They brought a new one out and wa la its much better. I finally can enjoy my phone now.

No kidding? Wow. If I was the manager, I'd be like:

"Oh, yes sir, that is a known issue- Thank you for bringing it in promptly so we can address that. We do have a re-fit package available for that, the R.I.D.E.M.E. kit. I just need to take that into the clean-room so I can properly apply the upgrade..."

<goes into break room>
<comes back after 15 seconds of Quality Time with a Red Sharpie>

"There you go sir, than you very much for being a Verizon customer!"

So has anyone taken this into their own hands and fixed it? The replacement Rezound I got for the vibrating trim around the USB port (which this phone STILL has and they refused to swap) has definitely pinker menu and back buttons. Is it a simple thing to take it apart then color the bottom side red or something to make the capacitive buttons look proper red? I'm not even sure it's worth voiding the hardware warranty to do that, but if it's simple enough I may try it.

I saw the app called "screen filter" that can turn the buttons off. Wish there was a way to do that without having to have an app running the whole time. Just a simple thing that I could have run at startup once and disable them.

So just looking for any DIY fixit ideas for the pink buttons!
