Help My Verizon App Ruining Phone

Problem is I didn't know the issue existed until i tried it. Has anyone found a way to reverse it once it happens other than a new phone? Resetting and flashing did no good. Thanks.

At this point, we have to leave bad reviews and even objections to the app in question. Hopefully with enough complaints the Market will remove the app from the store and will hopefully stop other people from having to go through this crap.

My first suspect was the Verizon App too. Im glad I found out Im not the only one having this problem..its too late for my phone but I will certainly warn my friends who have droids Thanks

Just found this forum/thread. I've got the same problem that even the VZW admitted was likely caused by the My Verizon app upgrade. How come a factory reset doesn't work? VZW's replacement phone is a factory refurbished. I've had my phone for 5 weeks. I shouldn't have to accept a "used" phone.

A little sense here-- While the Verizon app may be involved, and I make no excuse for Verizon, there has to be some interaction of the Verizon app and these particular phones. There are a zillion chrge phones out by now and they all have the verizon app and I would assume that they have almost all had the Myverizon app updated..If this was the case there would b a huge furor over this issue , which there is not. So lets see if we can find ou wha the additional cause is ..fwiw

A little dated but I figured I'd update . . . a few weeks ago I got my factory replacement after I got careless approving some application updates, so I finally bit the bullet and got the replacement phone overnighted. The replacement worked great until today, when randomly it decided not to connect to the data network (not even 1X).

Verizon tech support had me try a bunch of different things and asked if I'd do a factory reset. Hell no, I'm tired of resetting my phone every couple of weeks! I'll be perusing the forums here for a solution to that . . .

I had a very similar experience today, and posted about it. I've never had a problem with my charge before, and it's not rooted. I woke up this morning, turned my phone on and there was a notification at the top for the My Verizon data use widget (still won't leave). I tried restarting it, with the same Droid eye problem, so I removed the battery. I then noticed the 'internal memory nearly full' message (said I only had 24Mb, vs 5ishGB yesterday), I moved every app I could to the SD card and even tried deleting several recently downloaded apps, but to no avail. For some reason the 'no memory' notification left later.

I'm not sure if you've experienced this, but THEN apps began to force close upon opening, and I can no longer download or update any apps from the store (it lags indefinitely, or they say there is a 'signature' error or 'package' error. I do not want to do a factory reset, ANYBODY help us!

Has anyone else had the My Verizon app updates mess up their Charge? Maybe my problem is that I have the widget on one of my home screens?

Earlier this week I was playing with the Samsung AllShare app trying to view files from my PC on my phone. Nothing seemed to syncing and it was time to go to bed, so I just left the phone to try and sync all night. Before I went to bed, I noticed that there was a "My Verizon" update and a couple other applications that needed updates. During this time, some other processes crashed.

When I woke up and tried to use the phone, all of my widgets were gone from the homescreens and the phone was slow. I tried restarting it and several processes were crashing. Then the phone went into an endless restart loop with that creepy Droid eye. I powered down and restarted and the phone was screaming at me that the internal memory was full, which was shocking since I was using only a quarter or a third of it beforehand. I moved every app I could to the SD card, but it was still essentially full. A couple apps were gone all together. I called Verizon support and all they could recommend was factory resetting the phone (ARRGH!) I needed my phone for work so I had no choice to get it operational ASAP.

Now tonight, I was browsing the web when all of a sudden some application updates and the My Verizon widget update came along. Once again, all of my widgets are gone from the homescreen and apps are crashing left and right. I called Verizon, and they want me to factory reset again.

So has anyone else had this problem or does anyone have a better solution than resetting? I'd rather not deal with the annoyance of getting my settings back the way I want them. Maybe I should take it to a store for them to look at?

Yup, exacatly the same thing. Im sorry to have to tell you this but you will need to get that one replaced. that phone is toast:mad:
Just call customer support this morning and hopefully the replacement will ...damn I just realized its friday  maybe they can have it to you tomorrow. I hadnt heard this happening to anyone so i thought they fixed it, guess not.
Good luck!!!:)

I wonder if those people who are having issues with this can ODIN a new ROM onto their phone and fix the phone themselves. And while you're at it, get Gingerbread too, namely the EP4 2.3.6 leak that TBH leaked.

I'm rocking 2.3.6 on my phone right now and couldn't be happier.
