MyBackups Folder

Wanted to do a full system clean recently so decided to be thorough. I tried to format my internal sd but it always leaves one folder...My Backups. Tried deleting it manually but it is apparently read only. Can't change permissions. Tried deleting it via mnt folder as I understand that it is linked via here...still no joy. There is not much in the folder and so doesn't really matter but it is irritaiting. I have performed a fresh install of xxls8 firmware and the folder is still there with other folders inside with names of apps I have had on previous installs. Any ideas?

EDIT: In the end, the heavy handed approach worked. Fat32 format via windows did the trick. Strange how cwm based recovery had trouble doing this.
