Mytouch capable of android 2.1?

BigMerf, whenever i read your complaints, I can't stop laughing..
You hate it so much yet you haven't tried the following:

*CyanogenMod
*Risk running eclair rom
*Sell MT3G on ebay/craigslist and get different unit.

How do we know 2.1 will solve the issue? I really don't think it will solve any sluggish performance you are seeing now. I even begin to suspect it maybe your hardware issue?

i was having annoying lag issues but then i factory reset and now little to no lag....
and on the to the 2.1 question i think we might get it but when it was asked in nexus android release conference thingy they were kinda beating around the bush and basically said some newer features wont be capable on some handsets because of hardware limitations......

Currently considering rooting :cool: my mytouch

I too was waiting for 2.x update because I really didn't like the navigation format of gallery we have. Arrow buttons disappear way too fast!!
Root and try different optimized roms would be alot of hassle for one tiny bahavior but if I am constantly encounter force close, that would be a different story.

I really do not know how 2.x will run on our platform but saw someone running ecalir rom YouTube - Rooted mytouch 3g Running Xrom Eclair Beta

laggy roms and missing default features is like the main reason i havent rooted yet to flash roms.... until i see a really stable one ill just wait for an official update or i will just not go cazy when downloading apps..... :cool:
 
Yea rooting is ok if your a developer and can do a whole bunch of crazy stuff. But It wouldn't be to useful for me. Plus If something effs up for good I want to be able to get a new phone.
 
zoom i shoudnt have to go through all of that on a phone that is only afew months old!

the news get worse.. mtot just announced via tweet that the cliq is getting there update. now im really pissed

yeah i herd this like 2 days ago.... i actually surprised that the cliq woud get an update before the mytouch because the mytouch was like the most advertised andorid phone besides the droid and tmobile is just kinda ignoring it.... :confused:

i dont care how much of a mytouch fanboy anyone is, they have to be pissed about this!

I was just playing with 2.1 emulator and it doesn't seem to allow you to scroll through 'Gallery' app.
I am not sure if it is the same on the physical device but that's CRAP!

from what i hear most roms seem to have alot of issues like with certain features not working properly... if i can find my g1 i was going to root that to try some of them out..... ( most likely a hero one, sense ui rules) :cool:
 
I have heard but haven't confirmed yet, that if an existing t-mobile customer wants the N1, they can upgrade and select the plan for 500 min for $80 a month and after one month of that new plan they can then, switch their plan to the plan that is unlimited everything at $80/mo...so if u don't mind having 500 min for one month to get the phone at the cheaper price then it'd be worth getting the new phone. I'm going to call t-mobile customer care to confirm this week but that's what i was told by an employee when i went to a local store to pay my bill. Hope this helps.
 
so back to the post....if we did get eclair or a rommed version, what would be missing? would we still have live wallpapers and stuff like that?
 
i dont know what you mean.. but i figure if rogers can announce it for the mytouch's sister phone why cant tmobile?! we are not asking for an exact date, but damm give us a yes or no!
